The pair met in Jerusalem’s Ulpan Morasha in September 2009 and instantly built up a rapport through their love of sports.

Less than a year and a half down the line, however, they have practically become radio veterans, successfully running and marketing the only sports show on Rusty Mike Radio.

On Monday Oct 4, just a few months after they quit Rusty Mike, Gershman and Louis’s dream project come to fruition with the first ever broadcast of Israel Sports Radio.

This is long overdue. There isn’t a decent sports program in all of EY. Hundreds of thousand of yiddin including many olim from the U.S. an even many frum yidden, are big sports fans and desparately needed a show like this. There are plenty of rabbonim giving daf yomi claesses but none of them has a clue about fantasy footbal all the NCAA championships.

With all the problems facing the people and government of Israel, the creation of an all-sports radio station is not a top priority. But, for the most avid followers of sports events, especially those that they take a strong personal interest in, this is filling a great demand. Hopefully, they will have quality programming and be successful.

#1 why does a rav have to know about sports? are you gonna ask your rav who to vote for in the all-star game? or should he honor L James with a mizrach seat?

I guess everyone needs to make a parnassa. Hopefully it will be listened to by chilonim who would otherwise be listening to a lot worse, rather than taking people away from learning (or, you know, web surfing and commenting on vosizneias)
