Paladino met this afternoon with a group of rabbis in Rabbi Yechezkel Roth’s 53rd Street synagogue in Borough Park, where he presented himself as the candidate with values, proudly proclaiming that both he and the religious community share the same “values, hopes and aspirations.”

In an effort to demonstrate his commitment to moral values, Paladino blasted two respected Brooklyn Rabbis for their September 2009 endorsement in the city council race of John Heyer, Rabbi Moshe Wolfson, Mashgiach Ruchani of Mesivta Torah V’daath and Rov of Bais Medrash Emunas Yisroel and Rabbi Yaakov Perlow, the Novominsker Rabbi also the head of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah (“Council of Torah Sages”) of Agudath Israel of America.

“Although many of the same guys who called me an Anti Semite on steps of city hall, without ever calling me or talking to me directly or researching the facts urged you to vote for someone else for State Council. You voted for John Heyer, because some other power brokers and power seekers fooled you and your distinguished Rabbis Moshe Wolfson and Yaakov Perlow into thinking Heyer opposed all forms of same gender marriage. They lied to you and the Rabbis because he didn’t oppose the same gender marriage but I do. That is why I pledge to you today. If you bless me and you tell all your people that I am the religious values candidate and that my opponent is the ultra liberal Social extremist that he is.”

In an effort to establish common ground with the Orthodox community, Paladino portrayed himself as someone who shares the same values with the religious community, promising to veto any bills on same sex marriage, coming out against abortion and pledging to obtain government funding for private school education.

Paladino was scheduled to meet with the Karlsburg Rav, Rabbi Yechezkel Roth this afternoon, but according to insiders at the Shul Rabbi Roth inexplicably canceled at the last minute for unknown reasons, Paladino elected to meet with some of the junior Rabbis instead in a room off the main hall.

One political observer who refused to go on record stated his opinion that while Rabbi Roth was not able to attend today’s meeting, the fact that he allowed the meeting to take place in his synagogue was in and of itself a show of indirect support for Palidono.

According to capital tonight news site Paladino’s campaign manager Michael Caputo downplayed Rabbi Roth’s absence stating that Paladino’s intent was not to meet only with leaders but to meet with the “grassroots” of the Chasidic community. Caputo also suggested that the Cuomo campaign had used “threats and intimidation” to prevent Rabbis from meeting with Paladino, even hinting that meeting with Paladino might put public funding in jeopardy.

Rabbi Yehuda Levin, who says he represents the Rabbinical Alliance of America, introduced Paladino saying that the Orthodox community is forced to deal with the problem of children at risk today “because of the immoral climate that has been fostered in Albany and the city of New York.” Levin also excused Paladino’s sometimes controversial and inflammatory remarks by saying, “For the first time in three and a half decades, we have a gentleman who is a little coarse. He’s not so dignified, but he tells it like it is.”

Paladino is iy”h our next governor in New York, but why did Rabbi Levine mix in a non jew to speak against rabbis, Paladino did not even say Rabbi he just said Moshe wolfson and yakov perlow, because Rabbi Levin gave him a paper to read, when you hear the event you hear how paladino stutters the words, he didn’t prepare his speech, just Rabbi Levin gave him the paper to read from, Rabbi Levin you should go and ask forgiveness by these two Big Tzaddikim in boro park that you let a non jew to speak against them. YOU MADE A BIG CHILUL HASHEM, it’s a shame and a disgrace that you are mixing in a non jew to speak against Rabbis SHAME TO YOU SHAME TO YOU RABBI LEVIN

This is ridiculous. The guy can’t read off a simple piece of paper. Further, why should our top three issues be abortion, mishkav zachor, and vouchers? Why should we care whether Christopher and Carlos marry or whether Christina gets a legal abortion? At least vouchers make sense, but why does ‘Rabbi’ Levin give away the store like this—and who told Paladino that Levin represents anybody?

The Chutzpa that Paldaino has to talk about “morality” and rile up anti-gay hate fest to gain votes while all along Paladino made a child bastard that he tried to hide from his wife for years until it was impossible to hide. Can the righteous moralists tell me if the gay population in NY forced Paladino to cheat on his wife multiple times with random women and have an accidental bastard child? Who needs personal responsibility and addressing pressing political issues when you can get ignorant voters to blame gays on everything.

Rabbi Levin needs to attend JONAH therapy sessions himself. The guy is like closeted Fred Phelps whose only issue and politics is bashing gay people for a living. Paladino doesn’t know the difference between his left and right hand when it comes to Frum leaders and politics. Levin wrote his own vendetta speech against prominent leaders who have not given him any important positions in the community and Paladino just read the speech like a blind fool. How can any sane voter in Boro Park endorse Paladino when Paladino’s Tea Party campaign is to cut social benefits cut government spending and taxes. This means you can’t grocery shop in BP with your benefit cards and get medical insurance for your 8 kids with Medicaid. Is Paladino really your candidate because the gays will cause a moral earthquake in NYC soon?

hopefully the Orthodox community looks at the totality of the candidate not just one or two bullet points like gay marriage.

FYI to Levin there has awaits been children at risk way before gay rights was even a thought. Children at risk has nothing to do with gays. The reasons are many broken home, parents not home working or whatever. Bad parenting, couples staying together who really dislike each other creating a bad environment for the children, or whatever.

By saying it is the gay issue you simplify the problem and do not tackle the real reason of children at risk

Palidaino is crazy but I will still vote for him for 3 reasons 1 he’s the lesser evil 2 most of his more crazy plans won’t happen 3 long term the tuition vouchers will save family enough money that they won’t need as much public assistance that they are currently receiving we all need to keep in mind that very soon America won’t be able to afford to pay for all of these democrat programs and we will be stuck with the leftist shmucks without getting anything in return at least with paldaino we will get our second amendment back and won’t need to pay for other peoples children’s public school education with out a receiving something in return

What’s with Agudah lately? They also supported John Perez a Demorat in California who is the head of the Homos and is now Speaker of the Assembly.

I urge all yidden to contact the “Frum Leaderhip” and find out if they are selling out religious and family values for $$$$$$$$.

Dear VIN, im surprised at you for publishing a story that by your own account is TOTALLY INACCURATE . You write “Paladino blasted two respected Brooklyn Rabbis for their September 2009 endorsement in the city council race of John Heyer” and in the actual quote of his speech you quote him as saying “You voted for John Heyer, because some other power brokers and power seekers fooled you and your distinguished Rabbis Moshe Wolfson and Yaakov Perlow into thinking Heyer opposed all forms of same gender marriage. They lied to you and the Rabbis “. So he’s clearly bashing the power brokers for lying to us and our rabbis, clearly he’s not bashing our rabbis.

Vouchers will require an amendment to the NY State Constitution. And that will never happen under Paladino’s leadership as he has offended way too many people. Thinking he can deliver on vouchers is like thing Bernie Madoff can deliver on investmants.

The real question is who advised him to ally with Yehudah Levin, known for his outspoken support of anti-Semites like Buchanan. Andrew Cuomo will win the support of the Orthodox community in November.

The way Carl Paladino performed today in reading the scripts of Rabbi Yehuda Levin shows what an intellect he possesses. At least in Boro Park he spoke more in general terms instead of naming the class of immorality in detail the way he did in the Kasho Shul in Williamsburg. Furthermore, he is not the poster child for moral behavior. Those among us who would vote for Palladino on the basis that he hinted at approving Education vouchers, are in for a big surprise. When the financial situation of the State is in disarray and with all the (promised) budget cuts, the last thing on anyone’s mind in Albany will be vouchers for the Yeshivas.

I hope New Yorkers won’t be stupid enough to vote for Coumo!

The Demorats wave a few dollars in the air and all the clueless moisdos and community groups come running. What’s the difference between these groups and Al Sharpton’s group……….nothing, only the color of their skin! They’re all in it for themselves.

Levin has lost any veneer of moral or political leadership for associating himself with this dreche Paladino. The man is a self-acknowledged adulterer, porno-fan and homophobe who bashed gays literally within hours of one of the worst anti-gay attacks in recent history. The disgust most intelligent yidden feel towards Levin has increased exponentially over his commentary in the past several years and after yesterday, at least some of us wish only that both he and Paladino should have a one way ticket to gehhemom for such a chilul hashem in a shu.

Unfortunately we have a lot of liberal am-haaratzim Jews posting on this blog. Rabbi Levin is 100% right. The morals that they criticize Paladino -are the morals of goyim. We B”H have a Torah and the Torah dictates our morals. It’s perfectly OK for a goy to have more than one wife and to father a child with the second. (As long as she isn’t married to someone else.) On the other hand being Gay and even more so legalizing Gay marriage is an abomination which acc. to the Torah both a Jew and a goy have to be killed for.

You and Levin are ’emes’ both a tipesh and apikores if you guys think its OK for someone who is running on a “morals platform” to be the governor of New York state to commit adultery and justify his other obscene and disgusting behavior as consistent with daas torah.

    Truth

31 anon- you spent your time while you were in Yeshiva learning words like “emes,
tipesh, apikores”. But you should have been learning torah. If you ever happen to learn our bible, you will see what the torah calls moral is moral, not what you and the rest of the goyim call moral. Those words you used are more applicable to yourself than to us! And acc. to the Torah it’s not adultery, unless she was married to someone else.

i’m sorry but if certain rabbis involve themselves in politics they are fair targets for criticism.it seems at least one of the mentioned was also a cop out on the pediphile issue years ago.some folks don’t forget.the only decent rabbi on that issue was avigdor miller Z”L.the rest of them well…………..are you allowed to say shame on you to rabbis? listen to the facts and make your own decisions.don’t be led by the nose.

Adultery is immoral, because it is a breach of contract between the man and his wife. Are you suggesting that a Sefardy man who cheats on his wife is not being immoral because he is allowed to have more than one wife. People get hung up in technicalities ignoring the straight instinct we all have.
Additionally, althoug a ben noach is commanded not to have a gay relationship, there is no arvus to a ben noach. Ergo, gay marriage is none of our business. Rabbi Levin has no daas torah with him. He quotes dead gedolim who were discussing something totally different to todays’ situation. I think Cuomo planned these meetings.

Lakewooder -get off the net and go to the bais medrash. Your crum logic is menuvaldik. We might not be oiver if a ben-noach commits an aveirah, but should we want them to do lots of aveiros? Where you there for laining last week? Parshas Noach? What did the animals do wrong? The meforshim say that when humans sin they bring destruction to the whole world and these were goyim. Stop trying to equate his actions to the actions of gay people. One the Torah doesn’t have a problem with, the other the Torah says is an abomination! There is no contract between man and wife by goyim, when he lives with her -he is married, when he sends her away -they are divorced. Like I said previously, if the other woman didn’t have a husband -then it’s not adultery for a goy. A sefardy is a yid -we yidden have different dinim than goyim. Did you ever hear of “Kedoshim Tiyou”?

I can’t believe this guy even has a CHANCE at winning anymore. This man is a festering cesspool of immorality.

For those of you who are dancing in the streets because he “supports school vouchers”, you should know that he has absolutely no authority to grant them. He has NO power whatsoever to make it happen for you. That’s why he (a supposed ‘conservative’) can offer you his support of yet another government handout like private school vouchers…. he knows it will NEVER come to be. You all fall for it… hook, line and sinker. This guy is just another slime-ball who will say ANYTHING for votes.

Poster # 21 (Anon Ibid Opcit); I am no fan of Paladino. But there was absolutely nothing in his speech/es yesterday that could –by any stretch of the imagination– be interpreted as Gay Bashing. He came to the Shul/s to express his opinion about gay marriage, etc. because that is also the opinion of this segment of the population, whose vote he’s seeking. There are many other valid reasons not to vote for him, though.

I take issue with your assumptions of what takes children off the derech. It is not just children from dysfunctional homes as you suggest. There are children who were sexually traumatized in camp or other non-home settings, children with mood disorders or other mental illnesses (that they didn’t sign up for), children that have issues with the hypocrosis in their midst and numerous other issues that can be added. Think twice before you catagories “at risk/off the derech children” with a wide brush stroke. I hope for your sake that Hashem doesn’t humble you with the painful experience of having a child or grandchild go off the derech.

#36 Truth. I see I did not make my point clear. The reason Paladino did something wrong by committing adultery is because he promised his wife he wouldn’t and she trusted him enough to throw in the towel with him. That is immoral. I hope you don’t disagree.
My point about arvus was that we have no business making up sevoros. We do not have responsibility for this issue so leave it to H-shem.

Lakewooder – While his behavior might not be the best in the world, he isn’t immoral like gays. I was answering your comparison about Palindino & gays. Don’t confuse the issue. I also answered your boich sevorah about arvus. We might not have arvus with goyim, but we are mechuyav (if we can) to make sure this world is clean or as less dirty as possible. If there is a candidate who won’t give away the store to the gays- we are mechuyav to vote for him. Why can’t you understand such a simple concept? If there is a fire burning do what you can to put it out, even if you can’t put it out entirely.
