The driver of the four door silver sedan appeared to be between 25 – 30 years old, was dressed in Chasidic garb and spoke Yiddish. The teenager, who jumped out of the car and suffered injuries to his knees, reported that the incident occurred at 5:33 PM as they were driving south on College Road between Carlton and Highview Roads. Witnesses who saw the teen jump from the car called Hatzalah. The boy was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was treated and released.

Ramapo police are notifying the Jewish community of Monsey about this incident in the hopes that not only will someone come forward to help identify the driver of the car but also to ensure that residents are aware that someone out there is preying on members of the religious community.

“This happened on a Friday afternoon, right before sundown,” said Ramapo Police Detective John Lynch in an exclusive interview with VIN News. “This man knew all the right things to say to get this teenager into his car. We are notifying the community that this boy was targeted because he was Jewish. With people like this, they tend to strike again. We want parents to know, we want people to know that there is someone out there preying on people under the ruse of ‘I will give you a ride to the synagogue.’ ”

Ramapo police are requesting that anyone with any information regarding this incident call them at 845-357-2400. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous can call the Ramapo Police tip line at 888-998-8477.

It is bad enough that these sexual deviants exist in the general community; however, it is reprehensible and despicable that these perverts exist in the religious community.

perhaps parents and teachers should tell the children that they should NOT under any circumstances hitch rides.
I see it in the frum communities all the time.

I can only wonder if this sexual pervert is a transplant whose last community “dealt with him” by shipping off somewhere else. It is hard to imagine that in such a close-knit community and with so much attention being paid to sexual predators these days, that this was this pig’s first strike.

Hitching is dangerous because of these stories and because of accidents. I see the Bais Mikro and Bais Dovid boys hitching all the time. Let them go with their transportation. Chaderim should not allow kids to go home any other way. Bucherim should also not hitch it is not safe.

there is no west maple corner maple terrace. Maybe maple corner maple terrace. If so how did they get to college between highview and carlton. He hitched for two miles? Something fishy in this story.

Some people think that because you can “tremp” in Israel somewhat safely (though I would never let my kids do it), you can do it here too.

To #6 - When I stated the “general community”, it was a polite way of referring to gentiles.

To #14 - Are you joking “He didn’t want to hurt the teen, he just wanted to satiate his urges”. Let him do that behind bars. Also, stop making excuses for these deviant perverts.

It upsets me every time (almost daily) that I see boys in Monsey trying to hitch rides, for exactly this reason. There are all types of sick people out there and once they get in the car, they are the mercy of the driver. B’H the boy managed to get out, but a greater communal effort must be made to warn boys against hitching rides.

#15 He shouldn’t be reported? Maybe he should take your family member for a hitch

#13 – Mesira?!!? How bout we let him engage is misconduct with someone from your family and then well see who’s yelling Mesirah. You are an Am Haaretz and should stay home! Al Pi Halacha one is mechuyav to say who this person is! Anyone who does not should be cast away from our communities!

Even if PD catches this predator, there will be composers writing music and legal defense rallies for him. Attorney General will be lobbied and intimidated about losing votes, so miraculously the guy will get a slap on the wrist and back around children.

Maybe we should take the opposite approach. Because such sickos exsist (unfortanately) in our community, if you are a person who has no yeitzer hara (which consists of 99.9999% of us), its a bigger mitzva to pick up the hitchhiker. Maybe even might be saving a child from a horrible experience.

The latest phenomenon in Monsey is chasidishe teenage boys hitchhiking. Besides being illegal, it is also dangerous. These kids have no idea the trouble they can get themselves into. Their parents are likely also clueless. I used to pick them up, but no more. It works both ways; in today’s climate, one never knows what one may be accused of by a hitchhiker.

Instead of asking decent people to stop passing judgement on dangerous pedophiles, you should pick up a Tehilim and ask Hashem to rid us of evil people and their evil urges. And at the same time, ask that der Aibershter should give you the sechel to understand that NOT passing judgement on criminals that are in the geder of rodef, is CRIMINAL.

    >>>Instead of passing judgement, let’s rather say Tehillim and daven to Hashem that these Choilim should have a Refuah Shelaimah and that they shouldn’t harm anyone…

This terrible incident happened Oct 22, that is almost two weeks ago.
Why is is story so late in getting out? If this happened on a Friday right before sundown and this is really a frum driver then it would be fair to assume that he wouldn’t continue to drive too far from where this happened. He may be a local guy and the community should have been told sooner…or is something missing from this story..

Meanwhile, this guy is still not caught and there are many others, be aware of what is happening all around you……in ALL aspects of life and teach the children too.

everybody is brave on the internet,.

But lamden, is just repeating what many godolin and possiks say is the halachcha. Need I mention which ones? In addition, the people in power in the Ultra Orthodox community say the same thing. And if someone wants to fill charges there is enormous pressure to drop the charges. And if the person does press charges the family is ostracized from the community since all the sheep feel that is what the gedolem want us to do.

To change this, it will have to come from the bottom up.

I hope that next time (hopefully there won’t be) a brave family reports a yiddish molester, the community and all the big mouths on this board openly support the family, and the child (yes it happened to girls, a little dirty secret) who was molested publicly, and in the courtroom.

And not like a very public story when the community went out of it way to support the perf in the courtroom and not one person came to support the real victim. It was so disturbing and shocking that the judge reprimanded the whole community

this is a common misconception this has been going on even in the alter heime and way before

The difference is because of the internet people can be exposed and are exposed. So now we know about this things instead of being hidden. People can expose powerful people easily now If not for the internet the church would not have been exposed and many of the infamous frum people would not have been exposed. Adult posted their stories of abuse on the internet and the rest is history as they say (of course the internet bring problems too, but nothing is 100%)

I live in Monsey and was never cautioned about this. I haven’t even heard the story before seeing it here on VIN. Exactly how do they plan on letting people know about this?

The driver could have been a visitor from another community. He could be dressed in the garb as a disguise. If he does acts like this,he could just as well also drive on Shabbos and be over other aveiros. It could be that the boy made it up so he could embarrass the driver. We do not know the details or the authenticity of this story.

Rav Elyashiv shlita has paskened that child molesters must be immediately reported to the police. Even the gentile world calls them predators, which is the equivalent of rodef.

As a physician, I can state that the ‘cure’ rate for child molesters is exceedingly low.

Elliot Pasik, Esq pushed forward legislation in New York State which enabled yeshivas and seminaries to do criminal background checks on all its employees. (Until he convinced the legislators to do this, it was illegal for private schools to perform such checks on employees).

Elliot was motivated by horrendous cases of child abuse in the frum community, way back when virtually no one thought this was a major problem among frum people.

Unfortunately, it seems like only ONE yeshiva has bothered to do such background checks–despite numerous communications to school administrators by Pasik and his JEWISH BOARD OF ADVOCATES FOR CHILDREN (see recent JEWISH PRESS article about this organization).

Our insular community’s children are easy prey for these individuals.

We need to realize that molesters attack on average hundreds of children before they are ever arrested.

We need to do everything we can to protect our kids.
