The Isola Bella Café was granted a new premises licence by the Licensing Sub-Committee today and is set to open in Golders Green Road at the end of January.
The restaurant will serve sushi, Thai and Italian food and will replace The White House Express restaurant in Brent Street, Hendon.
The restaurant will be open to the public from 8am to 2am every day of the week apart from Saturdays when it will remain open until 4am.
Sergeant Mark Altman raised concerns on behalf of the police. He said: “These premises were the main focal point for disorder in Golders Green for a significant number of years and police do not wish to see a return of these problems with a new late night venue.”
The licence was granted on the condition the restaurant only serves alcohol for consumption on its premises from midday to midnight Sundays to Fridays and midday to 1am on Saturday.
Leor Nissim, the director of two Isola Bella Cafés and two White House restaurants, confirmed it would only serve alcohol with food and would work with the police to prevent any crime and disorder.
The sub-committee also stated empty bottles must not be left in the street between 9pm and 9am.
Mr Nissim said: “I am delighted with the decision – Golders Green Road is becoming more popular and I think our restaurant will be a good addition to the eateries there.
“We’re aware the area has bad history but we are hoping to change that.”
A kosher restaurant opened on Friday nights until 2AM? That is what the story implies.
The White house express is not and has never been in Brent St. It is on Golders Green Rd. The White House is at present just off Brent St on Bell lane.
It just means that on Saturday night it will be open till 4am (early hours of Sunday morning). They forgot to mention that it will not open till after Shabbat ends.
Actually it is on Pennisylvania Ave.
