New York – Glenn Beck Apologizes for Comparing Reform Judaism to Islamic Extremism

    34

New York, NY – In response to concerns raised by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and others about offensive comments made by Glenn Beck regarding Reform Judaism during a February 22 radio broadcast, Mr. Beck has communicated directly with Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director, to apologize to all those he may have offended.

Mr. Foxman welcomed the apology saying, “Glenn Beck has shown that he understands how his remarks were offensive and out of line.  We welcome his words of apology and consider the matter closed.”

    Mr. Beck wrote:

    Mr. Foxman,

I just wanted to write to you personally and thank you for bringing to my attention the inaccurate comments I made on Tuesday. I was admittedly misinformed on Reform Rabbis and made a horrible analogy that I immediately attempted to clarify–quite honestly, I blew it on this one.  When I believe I’m right, I am always willing to defend my ground.  But, when I make a mistake, I hope you understand that I am willing to say so.  It is why I led my show today with an admission that I was wrong and an apology to everyone I offended–within Reform Judaism and throughout the Jewish community.

    Sincerely,

    Glenn Beck

    Reform Judaism does not exist.

It happens that Islam is closer to Yiddishkeit than the reform religion as far as observance is concerned.

Beck and Limbaugh have a long track record of making anti-semitic remarks and then “appologizing” by claiming they were misunderstood. Sorry…they are mamash racists and extremists by any definition and yidden should not take comfort by their support for EY that is really framed in terms of evangelical christianity and their view of our role in their notion of ‘armageddon” and the return of their moishiach.

    #2 ,

Well, reformed Judaism is just as foreign to the Torah lifestyle as Islamic extremism is from the Koran.

Glen gets it at a certain level. Reform Judaism is a fraud. He may have some cracker jack idea of how to express it but I think he knows trust from tom foolery.

    #8 ,

    The infidels about which the Koran speaks were Pagans. The Jews and Christians are referred to as &#8 220;Ahl al Khitab&#8 221;, the people of the book, and the Koran says explicitly about the people of the book that they should &#8 220;not dispute with the followers of the Book except by what is best, except those of them who act unjustly, and say: We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you, and our God and your God is One, and to Him do we submit. &#8 220;

Glen Beck is an anti semite if you listen between the lines you hear a lot of “Jews Control the World” stuff from him.
#6 —“He doesn’t like phony jews who are liberal”
We may try to seperate ourselves from our brothers, but our haters never do…Hitler didn’t care if a Jew converted, married a christian women and had 10 christian children and grandchildren. Kol Yehudi Arvim ze’ le ze!

Beck is just a showman who is looking for attention. What he said probably made no sense at all and he knew it – he knows that the further he sticks his foot in his mouth the higher his ratings go. He really is just another Howard Stern and should be seen as an entertainer.

I can’t believe that people who claim to be Torah Jews listen to talk radio, whether it’s right wing or left wing. What a waste of time!

#14 ….by coming into this forum and saying what you did….I really wonder where your heart is. Anybody badmouthing their own “brothers and sister” definitely leaves me thinking “what kind of a jew are you”?And I am really sorry to have to say that to you….because I do love you, as I should. If you have any problems with what we as a society do or don’t do, whether you think we are right or wrong in whatever is going on, you don’t have to come on the air and “air” the laundry. Go to the people who can make a difference and try selling your wares there. I am really sorry, but it gets me to think. What kind of person are “YOU” really!
We are not perfect(and neither are you, have you been in their shoes, struggled, perhaps?)but for you to come here and spill it…..shame…
There is something to be said about those who “beshmutz” their own—especially berabim!!!!!!!

It was an uncalled-for remark. There was no reason for him to insult the Muslim extremists like that.

Obviously, none of you heard Beck’s original comment, for which he predicted this reaction. He was speaking about Soros’s attacks against him. I guess the rules here are that I can’t post the link, but it’s on salon.com. Give it a listen. He says, in effect, that Reform Judaism is more political than religious, like militant Islam.

Oh, and PMOinFL- you sound pretty bitter. The Jews in Persia also thought their “Rebbaim were WRONG,” but were rescued from destruction when they were kimu v’kiblu the Torah shebal Peh of the Chachamim of their times. We should be zoche together to see the same rescue!

For the record, Beck is of German descent, a former Roman Catholic converted to Mormonism.
