Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says overall costs for anti-terror projects have risen 44 percent. They include reinforcing bridges, tunnels and stations and electronic surveillance and fire ventilation projects.

DiNapoli tells the New York Post that individual projects are months, if not years, behind schedule.

A legal dispute over security cameras in the subway system accounts for much of the cost.

But the MTA says it’s been able to install more than 3,700 security cameras with over 500 hooked up directly to the NYPD’s command center.

After 9/11, the anti-terror work had been slated to be completed in 2008. DiNapoli’s audit says it’s looking more like 2012 now.

That’s business as usual for them. They are always over budget and behind schedule in whatever project they do. They only time they are on schedule is when they eliminate express bus and subway service, then they are right on time. The day they say the service will stop is the day that it does.
