On Saturday from 11 until 3 p.m. there were police activity in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. It includes a total of 18 vehicle chokepoints in the city’s boroughs. Most are bridges.
The exercise was conducted on land, including the rail and highways, and on the waterways. It involved hundreds of personnel from 150 law enforcement and other first responder agencies in the tri-state area.
It aims to detect and intercept radiological devices before they can wreak havoc on Wall Street and other high-profile targets in Manhattan, the heart of the nation’s largest city.
So far, officers have been able to thwart the attempts at bringing radiological devices into the city from the surrounding region.
