Schumer said Sunday that he will push for the creation of a “do not ride” list for Amtrak. The list would be similar to the no-fly list that keeps those suspected of terrorism from flying into or out of the United States.

Notes and computer materials seized from bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan last Sunday showed bin Laden wanted to strike American cities again and discussed ways to attack trains.

Schumer is calling for increased funding for rail security in light of the new intelligence.

The New York Democrat says the U.S. must remain vigilant in protecting itself from future attacks.

There has to be better security, and more railroad cops to guard train bridges, tunnels, switch tracks, stations, rail yards, on both freight and passenger trains.

Every time Al Qaeda croaks “frog” we jump. We’ve known for over ten years that their strategy is to bankrupt us by making us endless money into hysterical reactions against endless threats. So far it is working perfectly. We’ve spent almost one and a half trillion dollars on two endless wars. We’ve spent tens of billions on worthless security theater like the TSA. We’re spending so much on so many redundant domestic spying programs that the GAO quite literally cannot tell where billions of it are going.

The only way to stop losing – and we are losing – is to stop playing their game. The only way to do that is to stop being terrified. Unfortunately, keeping people scared is how politicians have gotten elected since 2001. And it’s how the real welfare queens in the security industries get fat.

If terrorists want to cause the most loss of life, they won’t attack Amtrak with it low ridership. Big city subways carry way more people.

From where I’m sitting, it would appear that your Senator Schumer is grandstanding.
