But the expert panel said sanctions have made it harder and costlier for Iran to acquire items needed for its nuclear and missile programs and are therefore slowing their development.
The council imposed a fourth round of sanctions against Iran in June for refusing to suspend uranium enrichment and seriously negotiate on its nuclear program.
The report, obtained early today (NZ time), recommends that the UN Security Council impose sanctions on two individuals and two trading companies involved in Iran’s illegal shipment of conventional weapons.
It said most violations of the conventional arms ban involve Syria.
No! Really? What a surprise: UN sanctions don’t work. Who’da thunk it?
