New York – The people who run the Powerball Lottery want to give away bigger jackpots, and they want it to give players better odds at winning. How on earth can they accomplish that? By reducing the numbers in the Powerball group from 39 to 35, but doubling the cost of the tickets. Starting January 15, 2012, four numbers come out of the Powerball group but each chance in the drawing will cost two dollars.

Reducing the number of Powerballs will better the odds of winning. A chance at the jackpot will go from one in 195.2 million to one in 175.2 million.
Louisiana Lottery spokeswoman Kim Chopin said that will increase the overall odds of winning “from one in 35 to about one in 31.”
In order to try and get more interest in the drawings, the base jackpot is doubling. Starting jackpots will go from $20 million to $40 million.
“That’s going to increase the average jackpot size from about $144 million to $222 million,” Chopin said
“odds will go from one in 195.2 million to one in 175.2 million”.
Now, I have a realistic shot. All those who didnt take me seriously over the years, HowULikeMeNowww?
I have never purchased any kind of lottery ticket of any kind in my life. If I have an extra dollar, I give it to tzedaka. I’d rather have a 100% chance of getting schar for a mitzvah than one in a zillion chance of winning the lottery.
