The newspaper quoted an unnamed top investigator in the case who said the eventual dismissal of charges was “a certainty”.

“We all know this case is not sustainable,” The New York Post quoted its source as saying.

“Her credibility is so bad now, we know we cannot sustain a case with her,” the source told the newspaper, referring to the Guinean hotel maid who accused Strauss-Kahn of trying to rape her in a luxury hotel in Manhattan.

But his life is ruined already. This case is a sad statement about the state of the US Criminal Justice system. Any woman can levy an accusation and the accused will be strung up, quartered, and boiled in hot oil before a shred of the accusation is proven in a court of law or otherwise. Sad beyond sad….

His life is not ruined. He remains very rich and influential. Whilst he may not make president he has a good chance of being a minister in the next French government

If I am not mistaken, think that he is a yid. I remember his name coming up as a possible candidate to head a Jewish organization in Europe.
In any case he may still run for President of France and he still has a good chance of winning.

I said from the beginning that this case stunk. The US was able to take this guy out of the running without firing a shot. I believe he did nothing illegal. The sad truth is that what happened to him can happen to anyone, but absent his money they’d be locked up for good.

(Reply to #1 ) This woman does not deserve a better faith. Although, I agree he got away with something big here.

If they drop the case, he might be in a position to sue the DA’s office for damages.

You cannot lay charges, vilify a person in public, ruin his reputation, then realize there is a real problem in trying to prove your case, and walk away from it.

they’ll probably settle quickly to keep it quiet.

    but for now, it’s speculation.

Many innocent people have served time in prison for such accusations.. I wonder if this maid will have a trial and let her go behind bars instead. Unless, its really his money that got him out.

I highly doubt he can be returned to his former position or even be elected as president in France. His name stinks no matter what… One thing I still question is the fact that they found his cell phone in the room where the maid was which indicates that he ran in a hurry and they took him off the plane, meaning he flew for his life. So I guess something did happen after all. Who knows???
