London – A man and woman were injured this afternoon after a white van mounted the pavement at a bus stop on Upper Clapton Road.

Both were taken to hospital by Hatzolah and are not suffering life changing or threatening injuries.
A 29 year old man was arrested and is in custody at a North London police station.
While police can not confirm it was a hate crime, they say it was reported as one and will be investigating accordingly. Stoke Newington Community Safety Unit is investigating the incident.
I hope the driver is charged with attempted murder.
WHY in the world is this considered an anti-Semitic attack? The news item makes no mention of any slurs or evidence that would suggest Jew-hatred as a motive for this incident.

The Driver was a muslim…..
Name of the driver please. Is it official policy now, that whenever the alleged perpetrator of a crime is a Muslim, the media doesn’t give a name?
I live right there and saw it all. It was defintely attempted murder.it happened just minutes from where the shoe bomber lived and that one eyed one hook for hand abu chamza.
The article says nothing about a hate crime. How do you know it wasn’t an accident or a drunk driver? Please don’t assume every time a vehicle driven by someone who looks like a muslim accidently drives up on the sidewalk and hits yidden it was done purposely.
Whether or not this can be assumed to be anti semetic just depends on how often muslim drivers keep “accidentally” jumping the curb and plowing over jews. Remember the truck driver in israel?
I had a driver from pakistan swerve to the other side of traffic on coney island ave to try to hit me as i was crossing the street. A cop saw the who thing and pulled over the driver but of course wouldnt do anything about trying to hit me….at least in this case they are handling it differently
It looks like an attack. It is a straight stretch there since I know the road. It is also a bus stop so he should have been to the right [drive on the opposite side] not on the side walk.
