The Orot girls’ school, which is reopening this year in a new location, has faced threats from an extreme anti-Zionist hareidi sect. Parents of children in the school and other concerned community members have held protests this week calling on the city to give protection and ensure the school’s opening.

A police spokesman said that regardless of what the mayor or anyone else has said, the decision about opening the school is to be made solely by the Education Ministry, and whatever decision is made police will be there to keep the peace.

The Beit Shemesh parents committee said Monday that a week ago the municipality and the Education Ministry reached an agreement that the building will house the Orot Banot school for girls.

In a statement sent to the Jerusalem Post on Monday, the municipality said “the schoolhouse in question is located in a haredi neighborhood,” a point that is outright denied by non-haredi residents of the city.

This is reminding me of the protection needed for certain students in the US South in the 1950s and the 1960s.

The first principle to be a good jew (erlicher yid) is to respect all, especially other religous girls even if they don’t follow all the latest chumros that has become fashionable in certain circles. It seems that these fanatics are dysfunctional. Boruch Hashem they can fund themselves by travelling the world collecting from those that they hate so badly.

School started without a hitch! The military, police, private security, and an MK were all present and water and electricity are on and running. There was no violence, no craziness- just a bunch of excited, grateful parents and giddy children…. just as it should be. THANK G-D!

What are so-called yerushalmi kanoim doing living outside of Y-m??? Hint: who paid for them to move there and stir up trouble? The police could and should arrest and jail them all, but they’re doing a service for the state by making charedim look bad.

Is this the same part of Beit Shemesh where they are trying to throw the Bostoner Rebbe into jail? Sounds like a crazy place to live.
