    Bernard Mutterperl, 19, was indicted on charges of second- and third-degree burglary, unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child.

    The Borough Park teen allegedly grabbed Xochil Garcia in her apartment stairwell, dragged her into the lobby and tried to take her up another set of stairs on May 13.

    But the 4-foot-5, 80-pound girl was more than the 6-foot-2 teen bargained for, scrambling off and alerting a brother and neighbors. Defense lawyer Leo Kimmel said the charges had been “hyped.” [NY Daily News}

    Who’s being sensitive here? “Face it – your predjudice against anyone who is not Jew. Jew good, goy bad.” may have been directed at only a few posters, but is still not a very productive bit of dialogue. We’re all free to side with “popular opinion” or to be contrarian; either way, it’s all simply opinion – not fact. We don’t know if the alleged victim is truthful, a liar or a “prima donna.” Therefore, it’s certainly not appropriate to “bash” her, but it’s similarly inappropriate to assume that the alleged perp is guilty as charged or of being anything other than a dumb kid. Repeat: best to remain quiet, or to put it another way: best to “back off.”

    May 25, 2007 10:32 AM – “You all” was directed at all of the previous commenters who ripped apart the victim. It was not directed at all Jews. A little over sensitive? Maybe you should back off?
    I found it irriating that the commenter at 10:58 am now suggests that it’s best to be quiet. Is this because things aren’t going the way “we all” want them to? It was ok to bash and ridicule the victim before, but now that the perp has been indicted we all need to keep quiet? And because I am not supporting the very obvious popular opinion, you must rip me apart. Familiar tactics: twist the facts or the meaning, accuse, discredit, disregard. Same tactics used on the victim of the crime are now being used on me?

    to anon 05/22/07 7:02pm: please refrain from baseless characterizations of “you all” (i.e., jews); “we all” do not act in unison and are are not all prejudiced. It’s usually a good idea to remain quiet about both the alleged victim and the alleged perp. For some, it’s a good idea to always remain quiet.

    No, the prima-donna was asking if she could get a limo to her tv talk show appearances. Right in front of a Daily News reporter who reported it.

    You all didn’t remain quiet on the last group of comments regarding this guy. You were all very busy discrediting the victim and defending the perp.
    And there’s even more charges against him!!!! Yep, that evil little girl lured that poor innocent guy into her apartment building and made up all those horrible lies about him. Then has the nerve to go on the news and not look like a victim in your eyes.
    Face it – your predjudice against anyone who is not Jew. Jew good, goy bad. Not working out for you, is it?

    Not much to say since nobody knows the facts. Until there is a basis to form an informed opinion, it’s best to remain quiet – no?
