Sen. Lieberman might find keeping kosher in the Senate a little easier. The Senate eateries’ most famous offerings (think ham-laden bean soup and a bacon-heavy BLT) aren’t exactly kosher-friendly, so the addition of the new options is a big development for members of Congress and Hill aides too busy doing the people’s business to schlep to the nearest parve-purveying deli.
We hear that Restaurant Associates, the contractor that run the chamber’s food service, will be placing orders with Wrap2Go, one of the most popular kosher caterers in the Washington area.
Now that Senator Lieberman is leaving office they start to offer Kosher food ? Or perhaps he was the drive behind all this for the rest of the Yidden. A legend in his own rights.
Hope they will have food on shabbos so said senator could get grape juice, challa, cholent & kugel on those shabbosim that he “has to work.”
They are making available a limited portion of their menu including pre-packaged salads and sandwiches with hashgacha from the Washington Vaad. The food is surpisingly good and its the same outfit that provides the kosher food at Verizon center for the basketball/hockey games, the NIH cafeteria in Bethesda and several other venues in the washington area. You would be surprised as to how many frum jews work on the Hill (there are at least two daily minyanim on the Senate and House sides).
Who is the mashgiach??
A lot of staffers including female staffers observe kashrus and it will help them
