His funeral will be held at 1PM in Netanya today (Friday).

Moshe Eyal, a spokesman for Mitzpe Jericho, told Arutz Sheva that Hamdi saw the fire and alerted his friends who escaped from the windows, “Once they realized he did not get out with them, they called friends and entered the burning caravan and brought him out, but he was already unconscious and was taken to the hospital, where he died.”

Police are investigating the circumstances of the fire, noting they are examining the possibility the fire was started by heater than may have tipped over in the trailer.

Before addressing students at the yeshiva, the Rosh Yeshivah [Dean] of Mitzpe Jericho, Rabbi Shabtai Sabato, told Arutz Sheva “Its hard to speak about it during these hours. We have encountered tragedy.”

Nebach. Small consolation to family and friends that he died heroically. Maybe this isn’t the right time to ask but does v.i.n. have a shabbos goy reporting this to us in America? Or irreligious jew? I think either way its probably assur.

This is so horrible! Truly a tragedy! What a brave young soul to risk (and eventually give) his life for others! We can learn a thing or two from the decent, religious youth today. They truly are the future!

May his family find some level of comfort during this difficult time, recognizing that their son is\was a total hero! Not only helping to regenerate the world w\his Torah studies… but now giving his life, so that others might live.

They raised an incredible kid- I tip my hat to them, and will be praying for the family!
