The male suspect was wearing glasses and a beret-like hat in the photos, which were obtained from surveillance cameras inside the store at Compo Shopping Center. He is wearing a green coat and police said the suspect had come to the store to meet with the robbery victims.

The images, police said, were taken about 11 a.m. Wednesday when the man apparently had met with Zeevi at his Post Road East business a day before the fatal appointment about 10 p.m. Thursday.

In the new photos, the suspect is wearing a green quilted jacket, not the two-tone blue jacket worn on the night of the crime.

Police described the man as a white male, about 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall, in his early to mid-40s, with short salt-and-pepper hair, several days of facial hair growth and footwear that looked like cowboy boots.

He is believed to have fled the scene in a “boxy” blue, four-door vehicle, police said.

Yekutiel Zeevi, 65, an Israeli-born resident of Westport and owner of YZ Jewelry Manufacturing, was gunned down during an apparent robbery and pronounced dead at Norwalk Hospital. His business associate was also taken to the hospital and is recovering from several bullet wounds.

Westport police detectives, in partnership with the State Police Western District Major Crime Squad, have been working since Thursday night.

The homicide marks Westport’s first since 1996. Police have said the shooing was not a random crime but have not disclosed a motive or other details.

The Westport Police Detective Bureau urges anyone who may recognize the individual pictured to call 203-341-6080. All calls will remain confidential.
