Jerusalem – A Satire column that appeared in Israeli newspaper Yated Neeman on Dec. 12, 2011, cites the fact that men and women were separated in Auschwitz as proof that segregating men and women is completely natural.

The Aderaba column, written by P. Chovev, was in response to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s remarks at the Saban Forum which took place in Washington on December 3rd, where Clinton said that separating men and women on buses “is reminiscent of Rosa Parks.”
“Mrs. Clinton, it is incumbent on me to remind you that during the Holocausts, when the Germans implemented their machine of destruction, Jews were kept in blocs where men and women were separated. Even these animals understood that keeping men and women apart is a natural separation,” wrote Chovev.
What an unbelievably stupid thing to say or even think. Does the writer think that Gas Chambers are a perfectly normal and “natural” thing as well.
What is this guy talking about. They separated them in the barracks were they sleep. That’s about it.
I’m not sure who this guy is but he is among the sickest of a generally challenged bunch of charedei leaders and spokesmen. It is NOT normal to separate men and women other than for reasons of personal sanitation and related matters. Hashem created women with all the same intellectual skills and physical capabilities as men and in most normal societies, they function side by side in harmony and without the crazy churmahs the chareidim seek to impose. Yes, there are valid reasons why some women may choose on their own to remain at home and focus on family matters but that is their FREE CHOICE and not somthing dictated un himmel.

Characterizing the Nazi method of killing Jews as having been done in a moral manner by virtue of separation of the sexes, is perhaps the most amoral comment I have ever seen.

You are ALL wrong ! The writer does not indicate in any way that Nazis Y”ms did so to make anything better for the prisoners. However, the fact that they did so proves that this was the cultural default years ago and these animals didn’t know of another way!
It’s time we realize that Liberals like Clinton and others don’t want anything for our good. Today they stand for females, tomorrow for blood-thirsty muslim terrorists. As long as they can turn the innocent into guilty and vise versa they will stop at nothing.
We shouldn’t be so self hating about our precious tradition. Take a visit to Israel and you will see for yourself that these group of ‘extremists’ are not as awful as you think!

What did he write so terrible that got all you lemmings out there all tied up in knots and sputtering? He has a very valid point he actually is talking to all u feminists and atheists out there this that the torah demands separation of genders is not enough for you so he thought maybe if even animals (read Nazis) understand it maybe you people who are probably animal lovers as well would understand!
There are some areas that are sacrosanct and should not be touched. For the author and/or his publisher to permit such foolishness, even under the guides of satire is pushing the envelope. It is unfortunate that we have a generation that is obsessed with such foolishness; and then to have the author toss the baby out with the bath water is nothing but reprehensible.
Before we go crazy over such things as gender separation, maybe it would be a good idea if we started with the core fundamentals like proper midot.
I am shocked and disgusted. When non-jewish publications use the word holocaust, or describe events that happened during the holocaust, in an even slightly inappropriate manner, they are condemned, and rightly so! We must not remain silent and take this vile trash from “our own.” Any of us who are survivors, children of survivors, or friends of the above, and anyone who may not belong to these groups but possesses a shred of decency and regard for human beings, should not buy, read or touch the yated, or any related publications, until the editors apologize, publicly and coherently.
A better example is Achashveirosh’s party where men and women were separate.
I find the remarks horribly offensive & distasteful myself. I cannot imagine how the person thought for even 2 seconds that this could be a funny thing to say! How insensitive to so many survivors out there!
My heart is breaking that someone could “crack a joke” in this fashion. I understand the writer was just trying to make a point.,. but I don’t think a gentile would be able to get away w\saying such a vile thing! Why should a Jew?
I feel saddened for anyone who is a survivor, or a relative of a survivor, who might see this article or even hear about it! The painful & terrifying memories of Auschwitz are never anything to use as a tool for satire.

Maybe the reason for the segragation at Achashveirosh’s party was tha Vashti wanted her own shebang. Any thoughts anyone? This is an interesting question.
Maybe in the original Hebrew it might have a different meaning. It is awful and ridiculous. I guess if you constantly separate men and women, then all the men should be homosexual! Ha ha Ha
