The massive Costa Concordia – which was carrying more than 4,000 people, including 126 Americans – took on so much water through a 160-foot gash that the ship quickly listed to its side, preventing many of its life boats from being launched.

Six people were confirmed dead and another 69 were missing, potentially lost on the capsized ship, the largest vessel ever to sink.

I cannot believe the captain up & left all those people there to drown & die!

At the least the Titanic’s captain had the integrity to go down w\the ship when HE made a mistake costing lives!

And look… I’m not saying the guy needed to commit suicide. (lol) I’m just saying, he should have STAYED at least & helped his passengers! He was responsible for them!

How scary to think a family could be a on a cruise ship, w\their lives in the hands of a buffoon, who could care less about other people & is too cowardly to deal w\an emergency situation!

This very well could put some damage on the cruise industry for sure!

Between the cruise ships making people sick, people being “lost” on them & unaccounted for when it docks at the next port, to now this jerk leaving people for dead…

Who could trust that either them or their family members will be safe?! Poster #1 already said they’re gonna cancel their kosher cruise! Who will be next?!

I just thank G-d that this wasn’t a Disney Cruise, w\many, many children on board!

    Very scary!

I was on the Holland-America cruise line twice. They were very strict about people participating in the lifeboat drill. They carefully checked all of the passengers, and their life jackets at the muster station. For those passengers who were too lazy to participate in that drill, they received a personal visit at their cabins by the crew, and were escorted to the drill. On the other hand, on another cruise on Celebrity Lines, they appeared lax in enforcing the rules, and requiring ALL passengers to participate in the lifeboat drill. There has to be uniform standards in the cruise industry, regarding the drill. It has to be performed at the beginning of every cruise. If new passengers get on the ship at a different port, then the drill should be repeated. Also, the majority of life jackets are kept in the passenger’s cabins. There were very few life jackets on the open deck. It is a problem, if this sort of emergency occurs when the passengers are in the dining room, or at a show. Last, I was on the SS Surriento (an Italian passenger ship leased by Zim lines), years ago. It went from Haifa, to Naples. There was no lifeboat drill on that ship.
