The judicial and police officials said Friday that a bullet wound to the left temple and another to the abdomen of 23-year-old Mohamed Merah were fatal.
The officials said the autopsy also found some 20 bullets, mainly to the arms and legs of the man. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss the case publicly.
Merah, who claimed al-Qaeda ties, killed seven people in three attacks. He died Thursday in a gunfight after a 32-hour standoff with police who said they fired in self-defense.
Well, it seems they indeed tried quite valiantly to avoid killing him. Pretty impressive that 90% of the hits were considered non-fatal. This was probably a very difficult feat considering the circumstances.
If he jumped out the window firing an automatic weapon it certainly sounds like self defense.
Not enough bullets
So I suppose the coroner’s report will rule out poison entirely.
