Sanford, FL – NBC News has fired a producer for editing a recording of George Zimmerman’s call to police the night the neighborhood-watch volunteer shot Trayvon Martin, a person with direct knowledge of the matter said yesterday.

The person was not authorized to talk about the situation publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity. The identity of the producer was not disclosed.

An NBC spokeswoman declined to comment.

The producer’s dismissal followed an internal investigation that led to NBC’s apology for having aired the misleading audio.

NBC’s “Today” show first aired the edited version of Zimmerman’s call on March 27. The tape is at issue because questions have arisen over whether Zimmerman was racially profiling Martin, 17. The recording viewers heard suggested that Zimmerman volunteered to police, with no prompting, that Martin was black: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.”

But the portion of the tape that was deleted had the 911 dispatcher asking Zimmerman whether the person who had raised his suspicion was “black, white or Hispanic,” to which Zimmerman responded, “He looks black.”

Later that night of Feb. 26, Martin was fatally shot by Zimmerman in Sanford, Fla. Though Martin was found unarmed, Zimmerman told police he fired in self-defense after Martin attacked him.

On Tuesday, NBC said its investigation turned up “an error made in the production process that we deeply regret.” It promised that “necessary steps” would be taken “to prevent this from happening in the future” and apologized to viewers.

What use is firing an unnamed person?
May as well not fire anybody and say you did.

How many of these “edits” take place everyday on all the networks and locals?

NBC cannot be trusted; on the one hand, its cable arm, MSNBC, hired Al Shapton (with his sordid background). Then, Sharpton, instead of reporting the news objectively forms an opinion regarding this case, and even takes part in rallies, while at the same time “reporting” on this case. The entire NBC approach to “reporting” the news smells. The only thing that I give MSNBC credit for is firing Pat Buchanan, who as late as 2011 stated, “if Elena Kagan is confirmed, the U.S. Supreme Court will be one third Jewish. Buchanan should have been canned a long time ago!

To #10 - Esther- Our dear, dear friend, Mr. PMO in Florida, delights in calling other contributors on this board names such as “ignoramus”, “idiot”, and other choice words. In the past, he has complained about being the subject of anti-semitic incidents in Florida, by gentiles who didn’t even know him. Yet, on this board, he shows absolutely no derech eretz to fellow Yidden, whom he doesn’t even know, with his complimentary phraseology. Hence, he illustrates his depth of hypocrisy, big time. A shanda!!!

I’m glad to see that the producer was fired. He should have never edited he tape like that, period.

But let’s get REAL here for a second: George Zimmerman said the term “f*cking coons” on one of those 911 tapes. Nobody’s edited or made THAT up!

Nor has anyone “made up” the fact that Zimmerman was obsessed about black folks being in his neighborhood! He called the police over 50 times complaining about this or that…one time, he complained because two black CHILDREN (between the ages of 7-9 he said) were playing in a driveway that didn’t belong to them!

WHO DOES THAT?! (lol). Who calls the police over such small children playing in somebody’s driveway?!

Sorry, but it’s ridiculous to look at this ONE instance of bad editing & decide George Zimmerman must have been a righteous gentile who’s been wrongly “framed”! (LOL)

People who *aren’t* racists, usually don’t call African Americans “coons”.

And I doubt if somebody could be heard saying “f*cking [insert derrogatory term for Jews here]”, and he had killed a young, unarmed Jewish Yid…you’d be wanting to give Zimmerman SUCH a benefit of the doubt!

    Ha! Please!
