Tallahassee, FL – Neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman is being charged with second-degree murder in the shooting of Trayvon Martin, the unarmed black teenager whose death ignited nationwide protests.

Special prosecutor Angela Corey says that the 28-year-old Zimmerman is in custody. She wouldn’t disclose Zimmerman’s whereabouts for his safety, but said that he will be in court within 24 hours.
Corey says that authorities did not come to the decision lightly, nor was it based on public pressure.
The charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison. Second-degree murder is typically charged when there is a fight or other confrontation that results in death and where there is no premeditated plan to kill someone.
Zimmerman has asserted since the Feb. 26 killing in Sanford that he shot the 17-year-old Martin in self-defense after the two fought.
If the kid who got killed was white there wouldn’t have been a special investigation or special prosecutor.
Good. Now his guilt or innocence will be decided in court and we won’t have to hear about this every day.
R u kidding?! So long as sharpton, jackson and especially the black panthers are standing watch with threats, u can be sure this will stay in the news and there’s no way Zimmerman can now get a fair trial. the tone’s been set, the threats clearly issued. That’s why they opted for 2nd degree murder rather than manslaughter or a lesser charge. We’re being ruled by mobs.
Who gives a darn that Zimmerman is innocent? It’s now only a matter of self preservation! It’s a choice between the survival of decent law abiding “folks” of America or Zimmerman’s rights and freedom!
America is under attack by Al (I’ll do ANYTHING for publicity) Sharpton’s and Jesse (I’m the icon of morality – just don’t ask my secretary) Jackson who’s mob armies, of true racists and bigots are poised to swarm like destructive locust pillaging properties (not their own of course, just like locust) looting, destroying anything in their path; harming any law abiding citizen who dares to attempt to stop them . . . and ALL . . . .all, in the name of RIGHT and MORALITY!
Hey, face reality . . . unfortunately Zimmerman is to be a sacrificial lamb, offered for slaughter on the alter of the Gods of Politics, public popularity and mass hysteria!
So please be serious! What else is there to do? What? Stand up for Truth, Justice and the American way? Sorry people, Superman is no more and our American leadership is bankrupt of his ideals!

everyone should be relieved that this is going to trial, the court of law should decide his innocance or guilt,
however whats bothersome is that, it looks like the only reason some people wanted justice was not because of innocence or guilt it was about pushing the race card how far they could, this was there only agenda and this will be there agenda going forward sit and watch and see how this plays out,
pathetic the only way they feel fulfilled is by slaying everyone that has a diffrent opinion by screaming racist etc, this should be about justice and justice only !!!!
No way will Zimmerman ever get a fair trial in this country.
Especially considering the edited tape that was publicized. Not after every “activist” has unfairly portrayed Zimmerman as a killer- before all the evidence was out.
Would this have happened if the shooter was black and the victim white?
What about the case in Los Angeles when it was black on black violence, killing a father who was trying to protect his 7 year old son (who ended up being injured despite his father’s sacrifice)? Nothing happened there. No special prosecutor, no great publicity.

Here’s Mr. Zimmerman’s chance to be cleared by a jury.
All he has to do is explain why he followed the kid and why he left his vehicle when the PD dispatcher told him to stay in his vehicle.
Let’s all take a deep breath and try to relax. The system will work and if he is innocent he will be found not guilty and if he is guilty the jury will figure that out too. So just chill out and stop arguing with each other. Give the system a chance to deal with the facts.
