She and Councilmember Domenic Recchia Jr. said Wednesday that the preliminary budget contains cuts to city-subsidized child care slots and after-school programs, and allows for further reductions in teachers through attrition.

They say the cuts would shortchange the city’s children.

Bloomberg spokeswoman Lauren Passalacqua said the city was working with the council on a budget “that meets our financial responsibilities and also protects services.”

Officials still have three months to come to an agreement on the budget, during which time the mayor must issue a final proposal and then hammer out the details with the council.

Liebling, and where do YOU propose to come up with the money? Raise property taxes even more?! Maybe another hike to the city income tax? Jack up the sales tax on fuel oil? Why not invade your City Counsel slush fund, where Quinn’s office hid millions of taxpayer dollars by allocating grants to phantom organizations as a way of holding the funds to dole out political favors later? … oh, I see, hitting that money is not an option.

Help up if this clueless female takes over the mayor’s office next year?

I have a great idea. Let’s build a team of 30-40 people who go out busting people for fraud.

We should have them take the welfare, section 8, WIC and food stamp lists and go investigate every last person.

Go find all the freeloaders who are working “under the table” while claiming to be “disabled” and collecting checks. Go find all the “stay at home” mom’s collecting WIC and food stamps while they are running illegal day care centers in their homes.

I personally know of so many people who are cheating the system and while I would never turn them in for something like this, I PRAY that they get caught and punished. I’m tired of playing by the rules while others fleece the sytem!

I am even willing to pay MORE in taxes to pay for these investigators, just to cut these people off and stop future fraud.
