Peres told Haaretz daily Monday that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is “a worthy partner (who) can deliver the goods.”

He blamed the deadlock on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying he does not believe in negotiations.

Talks collapsed more than three years ago.

Netanyahu says he is ready to resume talks without preconditions. The Palestinians say they won’t negotiate while Israel continues building in areas they claim for a future state. Israel says that should be resolved through talks.

Peres said there is still a chance to strike a deal in the next few years.

It is not Abbas who controls Hamas. Any agreement without Hamas’ leadership on board is totally meaningless. What planet are on Herr Peres?

YES this what a leader should be..like peres.
    embarrass the COUNTRY
    embarrass its prime minister
empower the avowed openly declared enemy of peace with Israel
give credibility to a historically fake people and culture

BUT HE WILL ACHIEVE HIS GOAL
HE WILL BE GIVEN A PEACE PRIZE FOR CONDEMNING ISRAEL.
AND THATS ‘PEACE’ according to the world.

Another sign of Mashiach,’ when we have NO leaders’

Peres is still hurting because he was never elected as Prime Minister (just fell into the job when Rabin was killed and couldn’t get elected subsequently). He can’t get used to the fact that the president of the state is supposed to be apolitical–ie, stay out of politics (much in the same way as Queen Elisabeth in England)

And he’s an old Mapainik which always was agains Herut/Likud.

In addition, there’s no shoite like an old shoite.

Peres and Co. Are left wing anti-religion looks. They tried many times while THEY had the majority to “make peace” and failed. In fact every time they tried things got worse. Someone should tell Peres that he should put a sock in his mouth.

Peres thinks that he was elected to head the knesset and make policy. He baldly undermines the legally elected Prime Minister and the country. He should ally himself with the Neturei Karta freaks who also endanger Jewish lives and security. Abba is a worthy partner!? Helloooo – Peres please get out of the presidential mansion – one a no’ef, now a boged – ridiculous

It’s unheard of and shameful for a sitting president to publicly attack a sitting prime minister especially when all he brought to the table were the terrible terrible ‘Oslo Accords’.

In what sense did we miss an opportunity- the Palestinians are requiring us to stop building before they talk – if we did that how are we supposed to handle the massive housing problem while the talk are continuing?

Being President of Israel is like being the Queen of England. Its a ceremonial position with no power that is usually occupied by an elder statesman (stateswoman?) who is long out of touch with the facts on the ground.

If they gave me a piece prize I won’t accepted it since it is worthless; if you gave peres, rabin, arafat and obama such a prize you know it is worthless

Probably the first time ever all the commenters to a single article agree on something. Remarkable!

Peres has gone way past his expiration date. There is a warm welcome awaiting him. The ovens of gehenim are heated up and the “welcome” mat is spread out to greet him.
