Port Authority spokesman All Della Fave says the tractor-trailer was pulled over Friday near the George Washington Bridge. The front license plate was missing, the back plate on the truck was covered with tape and the real New Jersey tag on the trailer was hidden by a fake New York one.
Della Fave said the Two Angels, the Scotch Plains, company that owns the truck, owes $53,000 in unpaid tolls.
Driver Stephen Taciak could not be reached. He’s charged with theft of services and tampering with public records.
Two Angles owner John Thompson said he had no comment.
When a truck needs to pay $105 to travel between Ny and NJ, no wonder people try to steal.
the port authority didnt biuld anything it just collects and keeps the money they are the real thieves
stephen you are a hero
Trucks should pay tolls even higher than the current tolls for trucks. because of the huge weight of trucks, even calculating per wheel or axle, they cause 100 times the damage a car causes.
Even if the tolls make shipping by truck more costly it is still fair to have each vehicle pay based on true cost. The end result might be switching to rail, some marine changes or even more by air, whatever is more effective for the price.
look at the list 12,000 in tolls 55,000 in fines and the list goes on what a joke the pa became its literally hihgway robbery
you dont make dollars and sense the amount they carry per truck you would need thousands and thousands of cars to carry and realkistically where is the money really going
it has to be rational where else do you see these crazy numbers and no accountability the port authority and mta should be disbanded and each bridge tunnel and airport for itself what they are doing is thievery how much did they actually put into road repair versus what they got when they pay a cop 250000 dollars its disgusting
how is it you can drive thousands of miles with no tolls and the last hundred cost more than a few thousand miles
