Sen. John McCain of Arizona, the top Republican on the Armed Services Committee, criticized the administration in a speech on the Senate floor Tuesday.

McCain singled out the recent report in The New York Times, based on anonymous sources, that said Obama secretly had ordered the use of a sophisticated cyberweapon, known as Stuxnet, to attack the computer systems that run Iran’s main nuclear enrichment facilities. The senator also cited published reports about the drone campaign against terrorists.

McCain said the leaks undermine national security. He called on the administration to appoint a special counsel to investigate.

Sort of funny because when challenged later by reporters, McCain and his Staff could offer no proof that the Administration had intentionally leaked this material and all the relevant career military and national security officials have rejected his allegations. Yet, when I go back and looked for McCain’s reaction to the infamous and transparent Bush leaks on the Iraqi “nuclear threat” and “WMDs”, he was nowhere to be found. Same with the deliberate “outing” of a CIA covert agent in a feeble effort to undercut opposition to the lies that took us into a war in Iraq. Sort of sad this onetime war hero is declining so rapidly with age and is so desparate for a few minutes of media coverage.

McCain smells likes sour grapes and desperation.

Mr. McCain, you are a hero to this nation for your military service. Nobody will ever take that away from you. However, you proved your irrelevance in the 2008 election when you chose that Alaskan imbecile to be you running mate. You showed that you aren’t an all-around American patriot… you showed you are an opportunistic pig (like most politicians) who will do and say anything for attention.

    Your desperation is transparent.

Nobody in the military backs up your charges. In fact, they ALL refute them.

Somewhere there is a retirement home waiting for you. You should pack your bags.
