According to news reports in Maariv, this is the second time that this problem has arisen at this meat packing plant, which supplies Chareidi establishments in Bnei Brak and Jerusalem, with the first incident taking place this past January. According to halacha, it is forbidden to leave unsupervised, unmarked meat in an area without a mashgiach.

R’ Aryeh Zilberstein, who is in charge of kashrus at the facility, terminated the mashgiach and all meat that was present at the time of the inspection has been designated as non-kosher, although R’ Zilberstein insisted that technically the meat, which had not been prepared in any way by the Sudanese workers, was kosher.

The meat packing plant carries the hechsher of the R’ Yisroel Meir Lau, Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv and Yafo.

I don’t understand whats the big deal. They identified the problem and took swift action by firing the mashgiach and disposing of the meat. It was not really treifus, just an administrative oversight by a careless rav trying to cut corners on paperwork and saving a few NIS in payroll costs.

it is the Rabanut hechsher, HaRav Lau Shlita is an excemptional upright man, but his hechsher is Rabanut as he is the Chief Rav of Tel Aviv

“There are no “women rabbis” serving as mashgichim”

There are, and they are halachically as good as men.

Just goes to prove that a rav hamachshir — no matter how prestigious he is — is only as reliable as the maschigach he sends to do the job.

I think only normal frum women are employed as mashgichot.
PS: If someone has a problem with women doing this role, I hope when you are invited out, you ask the husband to do the cooking!
