It’s a car.
That’s what transit advocates said today, revealing that more people were killed by cars in the last decade than by guns.
According to transit advocacy group Transportation Alternatives, citing city data, 3,923 New Yorkers were killed in traffic from 2001 to 2010 – more than the 3,882 murdered by guns in that same time span.
Transportation Alternatives argued yesterday that police should funnel resources toward combating car crashes that kill New Yorkers, the way cop crackdowns on gun violence have slowed the murder rate.
“The NYPD must prioritize the crimes that hurt the most people,” the group’s director Paul Steely White said.
By allowing Express Buses like the X29 to be axed the MTA is fueling this slaughter by automobiles.
Bloomberg isn’t issuing enough tickets and that’s why we have so many car accidents, says city hall.
Banning big sodas is more important and there is no time for such unimportant things as safer streets.
All the “cooked books” form the Police precincts which indicate that crime is down, don’t take in to account that Car Accidents are up, so why should Bloomberg bother to do anything about that?
The increase in car accidents is directly proportional to Bloombergs increase in Bike Lanes.
Statistics don’t Lie and statistics indicates that the more bike lanes we have then the more bikes are on the streets and the more bikes on the streets the more bikers die.
Blomberg has blood on his hands as a direct result of his excessive unsafe bike lanes.
Bike lanes should not be on city streets. Bikes and cars on the same street = more deaths.
Not convinced?
Google this and see the statistics for yourself:
“Bikeways cause string of fatal bike accidents in Germany”
It a FACT which city hall doesn’t want you to know that:
“A thorough before-after study from Copenhagen, Denmark, shows that cycling accidents went up by over ten percent when cycle tracks were built”
Google the above quote and see the facts for yourself
GUNS DON’T KILL PEOPLE,DRIVERS WITH CELL PHONES DO!
The police should be more aggressive in pulling over drivers and giving them penalty points on their licenses if they are caught using their cell phone while operating a motor vehicle. Meanwhile, the two-point penalty will really make it even tougher on drivers since it’ll undoubtedly increase their car insurance rate – making it one expensive violation. Now that comes in addition to the $100 fine that drivers will need to cough up if they’re caught.
If the United States abolishes private cars, 50,000 lives would be saved yearly.
We do say every rosh hashona…who will live and who will die…who by fire and who by water…it also mean who by truck and why by gun…
Let’s just remember the end of the posuk…utshivo, utefilo, utzdoko…
Driver of a car who killed someone is called ‘he made an accident’,
Guy who shoots someone with a gun is called ‘killer’.
Driving is not a crime, shooting with a gut is.

Stop with all the gun laws and start working on those things that will save more lives!
Take all the poor drivers off the street!
Make mandatory drivers ed every 6 years!
Too many tickets/points? You must retake your license exam!
how about this.
move bike lanes from streets to city blocks and build them properly with dividers.
enforce laws and citations on negligent construction companies. Those who botch up roadways by improperly placed cones, and uncovered hazards. I.e raised manholes, dug trenches and no metal plates on the damaged roads for cars.
turning arrows turning arrows turning arrows.
enforce the building of free tenant underground parking in new buildings.
