According to Councilman Mike Nelson, an Orthodox man was assaulted on his way home from Shul this past Friday night on Bedford Avenue and Neck Road in Sheepshead Bay. A group of five or six individuals hurled anti-Semitic epithets at the man and beat him with their fists, leaving him with a black eye and other bruises.

This incident follows on the heels of several other attacks, as swastikas were found in several locations in Borough Park, as well as on a van in Kensington. In another attack, a Williamsburg rabbi’s car was shot at with a pellet gun on the FDR Drive and less than an hour later, over a dozen vehicles in Williamsburg had their windows shot out and anti-Semitic slurs were painted on a street in Williamsburg, as previously reported on VIN News.

Local politicians have expressed their outrage following the recent wave of anti-Semitism and have expressed their gratitude to both the NYPD and Shomrim for their increased presence on the streets.

“Our district is one of the most diversified in the city,” Chaim Deutsch, chief operating officer of Councilman Mike Nelson’s office, which represents Midwood, Sheepshead Bay, Brighton Beach and Manhattan Beach, told VIN News. “If you take a walk up Coney Island Avenue, Brighton Beach Avenue or Avenue J, you will see many different ethnic cultures represented and everyone is united, everyone gets along. We are not going to let a few sick individuals who are acting out of hate divide our community but rather we will stay united and leave it to New York’s finest to investigate these incidents and hopefully make an arrest soon.

Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein, representing Brooklyn’s 41st district expressed concern over recent events.

“I am outraged that, borough-wide, we have seen an escalation in acts of anti-Semitism. I urge the public to be alert and vigilant. We need to assist the authorities by reporting suspicious activity so that the criminals are swiftly brought to justice and punished for their cowardly crimes. Ultimately this will send a message that bias attacks and vandalism will not be tolerated and will deter future attempts.”

While the recent incidents are being investigated as hate crimes and both the NYPD and Shomrim have stepped up patrols, according to Assemblyman Dov Hikind, these attacks happen all too frequently and are often not reported.

“If anyone thinks anti-Semitism has disappeared, they are sadly mistaken and we are reminded on a regular basis that there are people who hate and sadly we Jews are often the target,” Hikind told VIN News. “I would encourage people not to let fear get the best of them and to contact the police any time they see any incidences of anti-Semitism. We can’t get the bad guys if the incidents aren’t reported.”

Maybe these attacks are because so many young chassidim and heimisha are talking during davening, attending ball games in stadiums and having their heads in movies instead of Emunah and Torah. Whenever we turn our backs on our Creator and bring in culture of the outside world be it drinking at starbucks and other unhecsherd places anti semitism rises its ugly head. Nothing is a coincidence.

If Rabbi Meir Kahane (z’l), and the JDL were still around, they would protect these Yidden walking home from Shul, and would deal harshly with the cowardly skutzim, who harass and attack Jews. He did that in the late 1960’s, and early 1970’s. Today, things are worse, as these incidents, despite the pronouncements of the politicians, are tolerated by the public.

If we would have the propper Emunah, we would realize that everything come from Hashem, Middoh Kenged Middoh.

B’chol Loshon Shel Bakoshoh:, please get rid of Phrases like Shegetz, Shiksa, Urrel, Oif Alleh Nit-Yidden Gezugt, Zol Ehr Zein Ah Kapporoh, or the word Peigerin, Etc.

We must stress this, especially to our Young, and HKB”H will be Mkabel our Tshuvah.

Who are you to understand best the will and plans of HKBH?
I might be overeracting but I am a child of survivors. Who are you to dare to blame people for anti semitic violence. Are you saying that those that died in the shoah were at fault-there were many Tzadikim and tmimusdike yiden.
Are you saying the RBSO punished good because of bad people?

I have heard yeshivishe people spout forth with rubbish like yours but that does not make it right. I suggest you learn, keep quiet by davening and also keep quiet all the time if this is an example of what you say.

Tzadikim always said that the foundation for Anti Semitism is sinas chinam. When we stop putting people down or attacking them because “im better “ these attacks will stop.

Remember Kahane and the chaya squad. These things would not continue to happen under his watch.

I grew up in BP, and it’s a shame many here suggest that the community there isn’t good and it’s their fault. I don’t think there is another community that does so much good to one another in the whole world, blaming people hating jews on jews not behaving is not right, jews have been persecuted for 1000’s of years.

We are hated because people are jealous, plain and simple! Obviously people are cowards and won’t tell you “hey I am jealous that even in times like these you guys try to pull together and survive”, so they instead blame it on some other thing, like maybe Palestine or whatever, but remember, way before Palestine we where being hated.

So please stop blaming yourself or your community as to why people are Anti Semites, when someone is a Anti Semite, it’s their fault not yours.

Fight back, protect yourself as much as possible, look out for one another, and do not sit there and justify the behavior of people who hate you, that’s what the attitude was pre wwII. Stand up for your rights, just like other race groups do, protest and use any and all legal means to make your voice heard NOW!

    God bless!

R U kidding… You believe the Torah tells us that Hashem uses other people and their “choices”, their stupidity and hate to teach us about our failures? Maybe our failures as human beings…yes, than I agree…but not as Jews coming from shul. What is the message there? Except maybe to unite and stop blaming the victim!
