New York – A plane that towed a banner displaying the word “Swastika,” and showed a swastika intertwined with the Hebrew Star of David, flew over Long Beach Island and along the Jersey Shore on Saturday.

The Long Beach Township Police Department received at least several calls reporting the sighting, according to Bill Gee, a dispatcher with the department. Reports of the plane and banner have been reported as far north as Manhattan.
The plane appears to have been sponsored by an organization connected to the Raelian Movement, which claims life on Earth was created by a species of extraterrestrials.
The Jewish Community Center of Long Beach Island said it is aware of the incident and wants to know more.
“We’re trying to find out– what are their intentions?” said Don Pripstein, the center’s president.
In a press release, the group said it intended to fly the banner on Saturday over New York City from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and “along the New Jersey coastline” from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Flights were also scheduled for other US cities including Houston, Los Angles, Chicago and Miami.
Have you seen this plane? Please let us know in comments.
The Raelians’ press release also declared Saturday as their 3rd Annual Swastika Rehabilitation Day, and invited Buddhists, Hindus and the numerous spiritual groups who use the swastika as their spiritual symbol to stand up and show their support in cities around the world.
According to its Web site, the swastika is a “symbol of peace and good luck in many Eastern religions.” One variation of the symbol on the site shows it intertwined with a hexagram or the Hebrew Star of David and is described as the the “official” symbol of the movement.
This symbol or a slight variation of it is what callers told township police they had seen on Saturday.

Drug addicts. Please don’t spend money on a police investigation, rather, send these nuts to a detox center.
I’m probably gonna get hell for this, but here goes:
The Swastika can never be “rehabilitated” because it became too entrenched in evil.
Much like (how the anti-Zionists feel about) the Star-of-David.
The Magen-Dovid has been a holy symbol since even before King David. (Apparently Dovid-Hamelech adopted the shape for his shield.)
It’s prominently “sketched” in the (extremely) Kabbalistic Sefer “Rezi’el Hamalach” which, by tradition, was authored by the angel Rezi’el himself and gifted to our common ancestor Adam.
Then the Zionists “hijacked” the symbol and it became “tainted”. An anathema, if you will.
I suppose that the difference is that when Moshiach comes the Magen-Dovid will be revived, whereas (L’havdil) the swastika is doomed for eternity.
OK. Let the stoning begin.
The concept that a symbol of universal hate can be used to promote life and peace is like asking for a jar of hornets to be your best friend. It might work if you keep the lid on, but they will eventually die anyhow.
I hope the jewish long islanders didn’t pull their cel phones out “on” shabbos to report the plane
Maybe it was a Promo for the cover of Ami Magazine.
In Israel, at the Israel Museum, you will find mosaics unearthed from ancient synagogues. The art work is filled with swastikas. Yes, the swastika was used a lot in Jewish religious decorative art.
The reality is that the swastika predates the Nazis by thousands of years. It was once a common symbol until it was corrupted by the Nazis. I own a picture postcard mailed in 1911 by a Jewish boy to a Jewish girl. On the front of the postcard is a large swastika and the words, in large, “Go little symbol of success – Go carry hope and happiness!” On the back of the postcard (the address and message side) in the bottom left hand corner it reads, “The Swastika is the most ancient symbol on earth. It is used for ‘good luck,’ but is really a sign of being in harmonic relation with the Infinite.” The girl who received this postcard later married and had two sons. Both died as US soldiers in WWII. My parents befriended this woman when she was a lonely widow. The irony of this postcard never escapes me.
From what I recall hearing about this “cult”, they believe in alien beings ruling the world. Supposedly, they are anti-war atheists that do not hate but believe the Jewish Star intertwined with the swastika symbol is a “peace sign”(?) Meshugah.
