Albany, NY – When there are two generations of governors in a family, what does a son give his father as an 80th birthday gift? An official portrait — one that’s years overdue.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo presented his father, former Gov. Mario Cuomo, with his portrait on Saturday.
The elder Cuomo turned 80 this month. His likeness has long been notably absent from the State Capitol’s Hall of Governors.
He served as governor from 1983 to 1994. He told The New York Times in 2008 he didn’t have the patience to sit for a portrait.
Nor did he sit for one now. The painting, by Simmie Knox, is based on a 1989 photograph.
The current governor’s office says the portrait was commissioned by Mario Cuomo’s friends.
its about time he was a great govenor and would have made a great president
Why didn’t he just do what his “boss” said to do? Send his father a card stating a donation to the “Obama Campaign” has been given in his name! I think his dad would have appreciated THAT much more. LOL.
