The New York Post reports (http://nyp.st/PZu5d2 ) that crooks have figured out they can steal the left shoe from the display in one store and the matching right shoe from another store’s display.

The owner of one Bronx sneaker store says the thieves do their research. They know before they steal a left shoe which store has a right shoe of the same size and style on display.

A store manager in SoHo says he loses about 50 display shoes a year to thieves.

Some store owners are tying shoes to display walls so no one will walk off with them.

so the solution is that all stores should only display the right shoe or the left shoe
    very simple

When I managed a shoe store many years ago we would only display the left shoe and only size 7 for women’s shoes and a size 9 for men’s shoes. At the time all shoe stores in the area used the same method.

They should also display a size that is the least common
