Brooklyn, NY – Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) is offering a $5000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the vandals painting swastikas in Boro Park. He made the announcement after learning that a car in front of the Hamodia office was the latest target in a series of attacks on Jewish homes, buildings and property in the community. “We don’t know who is doing this yet but we know why,” said the Assemblyman. “Some individuals are sending a message. We hear them. And when they’re caught—and they will be—we’ll send a message, too. I urge anyone with any information to come forward.”

Perhaps these swastikas are a sign from the Ribono Shel Olam that we are doing something wrong. May I suggest that the middos in Boro Park can be improved. It seems like if you are somewhat different from the people there – even if you are Jewish, you are not treated with the same courtesy as others. People do not move out of your way on the street out of courtesy and some even seem like they are belligerantly challenging your right to walk on the same street as them. Sometimes they deliberately avoid looking at you and you wonder whether it is a religious or personal thing. We know that the Ribono Shel Olam works middah knegged middah, so if there is indeed any degree of xenophobia on behalf of the residents of Boro Park it may be being returned by the ultimate symbol of Nazi xenophobia – the swastika.

Stop with your bashing, Boro Park is a beautiful community with lots of chesed and beats any community in the US with modesty, tzdokah, middos, yiras shomayim and the list goes on… So please before you criticize anyone and say what Hashem wants please look around you and try to be the Barditchver rather than the soten…

What happened to all the security cameras Boro Park installed? Shouldn’t they be able to catch the graffiti artist? What if would have been something more serious, chas v’Shalom? Would the person be found?
