A driver passing about 20 stations on Friday morning found about half were open.

A couple of stations had lines of about 30 to 40 cars. But the system was working smoothly.

In other places, there were only a few cars in line. Drivers who got really lucky only had to wait about five minutes.

A driver who got to fill up his tank says Manhattan gas lines are better now that there’s rationing.

But Ira Friedman, who’s a doctor, says he doesn’t understand why New Yorkers are still “in this situation.”

A fellow customer, Angel Ventura, says he starts looking for gas when his fuel gauge drops below a quarter.

His delivery van has a 29-gallon tank.

Ventura says the possibility of running out of gas makes him “crazy.”

He’s gotten used to one-hour waits. On Friday, it was only 15 minutes.

Says Ventura: “It’s about time, right?”

According to Reuters, the smaller regional suppliers like Rio, Hess and WaWa have a greater stake in getting their stations up and running and provide all the help they need, the larger multinational chains like Exxon/Mobil simply do not care of some franchise operators stay closed.

The gas solution is a great idea – but if you go sown many main streets where there are lots of gas stations – they are closed why no gas – so how does this solve the issue.
Also to ChareidiMan – Hess stations are owned by HESS, not sure about the others.
