Brooklyn, NY – Metzitzah B’Peh Injunction Extended Following Hurricane Sandy

    14

Brooklyn, NY – An injunction granted against Mayor Bloomberg’s “informed consent” rule pertaining to metzitzah b’peh has been extended owing to a backlog of court cases caused by Hurricane Sandy, Israel International News (http://bit.ly/W1OIqa) reports. Attorneys for both sides have said it will probably be months before a hearing can take place because two Manhattan courthouses were badly flooded during the storm, and the court calendar has been seriously delayed.

Following passage of the measure by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in September, the regulation was supposed to go into effect on September 30. Enactment of the rule was delayed after rabbinical groups brought suit against the City and a Manhattan court granted an injunction, ruling that the affected groups were entitled to have their concerns heard in court.

Many religious groups have vehemently opposed the notion of being required to sign a consent form prior to the performance of metzitzah b’peh, and have accused the City of disseminating “lies” and “blood libels” and of “enacting evil decrees.”

My hopes aren’t high. I think we should throw the bums out of office for granting bloomberg a third term, that includes everyone including Hikind, Felder and all the leaders of the mosdos.

It’s ironic how come election time they tell us to vote for these candidates and then just months later they yell for “help” from the oppression from these very same candidates. That includes, Dinkins, Bloomberg I, Bloomberg II, Bloomberg III.

It’s even more ironic how we continue follow their advice blindly.

Reply to 1, you’re absolutly right, we are being led blindly by unelected officials (read Mosdos, rabbis, self appointed political know how’s Machers and big shots) who have their own personal interest at mind (IE. Which candidate will get hom the most pics in the papers Etc.)

Bloomberg wasn’t so bad the first 2 terms. It’s when he became mayor-for-life that the kavod got to his head and he became sure he could run people’s lives better than themselves.

Term limits exist for a good reason, and are usually scrapped for a bad one (Chavez, anyone?)

Is there a way in NY to call for a special election, asking the people to vote against him to unseat Bloomberg? I don’t think we will have a difficult task to convince NY’ers. If yes, what’s the procedure? If no, what elese can we do to rid of quicly?

“Israeli researchers break new ground in study linking herpes to brain damage.” (Published Mon. 13th Nov. 2012)

I also read recently (VIN 19th Sep.) that Rabbi Moshe Tendler stated that some cases of children with special needs in various communities may have in fact been a result of infection after birth resulting from herpes and other diseases transmitted to newborns by a mohel. But the predisposition to denial of what really happens to children in various communities gets swept under the carpet.

I repeat…Some disingenuous people are saying that to raise this issue of informed consent for MBP will lead to non-Jews pushing for a ban on bris altogether. The issues are quite separate. You can make a valid case for bris milah on many counts, but there are no valid cases for oral to wound MBP that can be mounted when an informed audience is present.

Evil fears the light of truth.

Bloomberg has done a pretty good job over all. In the course of three terms, there will obviously be things we don’t agree with but, overall, a job well done.
