The former CIA chief is testifying behind closed-doors before the congressional intelligence committees. It’s his first Capitol Hill appearance since resigning last Friday over an extramarital affair.

Republican Rep. Peter King tells reporters after the House hearing that Petraeus focused his remarks on Libya.

Lawmakers say Petraeus told them that CIA talking points written after the attack in Benghazi that killed four Americans referred to it as a terrorist attack. But Petraeus says that reference was removed by other federal agencies that made changes to the CIA’s draft.

He would have done himself better by TRULY recanting his original testimony. Seems no one remembers him making this statement last time. He sort of farenferd himself by saying that other govt agencies changed the story.

I read that the afternoon Ambassador Stevens died he spoke with somebody from Turkey, giving him information about an arms shipment that was supposed to be arriving, and the arms were supposed to go to Syria. Then he was killed???? Everything else was left in limbo. What happened to the man from Turkey?

In the United States, impeachment can occur both at the federal and state level. The Constitution defines impeachment at the federal level and limits impeachment to “The President, Vice President, and all civil officers of the United States” who may be impeached and removed only for “treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors”.[4] Several commentators have suggested that Congress alone may decide for itself what constitutes a “high crime or misdemeanor” especially since Nixon v. United States stated that the Supreme Court did not have the authority to determine whether the Senate properly “tried” a defendant.[citation needed] In 1970, then-House Minority Leader Gerald R. Ford defined the criterion as he saw it: “An impeachable offense is whatever a majority of the House of Representatives considers it to be at a given moment in history.”[5] Four years later, Gerald Ford would become president when President Richard Nixon resigned under the threat of impeachment. The lying about this serious matter has to stop, and those who lied have to go, and that includes first and foremost the President and his cronies.
