“If there is a possibility of achieving a long-term solution to this problem with diplomatic means, we prefer that,” he said in a public statement alongside visiting U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

“But if not, I’m sure you understand that Israel will have to take whatever action is necessary to defend its people.”

Clinton said she would work with Israel and Egypt on brokering a truce in Gaza “in the days ahead”.

Netanyahu has it right. Bomb Gaza until they won’t be able to fire a rocket for a LONG TIME.

Please keep in mind that what we say here matters. The president and the Secretary of State are providing the strongest support of Israel possible. We should be expressing our gratitude to both of them for this – and I do!
In addition, the Clinton’s did not give them the territory – the expolsion of Jews from Gaza was orchestrated by Bush.

I don’t care who empowered them. Israel is making another serious mistake if they bow to pressure yet again. “Peace treaties”? Feh! These lower than bugs don’t want peace & won’t stick to anything. There can’t be peace while Hamas rules in Gaza, Hizbollah in Lebanon & Israel is effectively isolated. They need to go in & blow the entire region up & if their “people” get killed, too bad. I say this as a very close family member is guaranteed (based on what he specializes in) to be in the first wave of any ground attack. But it needs to be done. I just pray our brave soldiers come to no harm.

#6 Bush never pressured Israel into leaving the Gaza, sadly that was Ariel Sharon’s own initiative.

And #1 is correct it was the Clintons with the Oslo accords that brought this region from the Stone Age into a militarized goverment. Yes, at first it was Arafat and the PA, but ultimately Hamas entered the political/power scene and now they are openly armed, as well. Pre-Oslo it was illegal for Arabs to have weapons. So, yes, I do credit Clinton’s peace plan with this mess, as well.
