He and first lady Michelle Obama held a White House reception Thursday on the sixth evening the Jewish Festival of Lights.

In the Hanukkah story, a small band of Jews rededicating a Jerusalem temple found that a one-day supply of oil kindled a flame instead for eight.

Thursday’s celebration included the reciting of traditional prayers and the lighting of candles in a 90-year old menorah from a temple in Long Island, N.Y., that sustained heavy flooding during Superstorm Sandy.

Obama said the menorah is “a symbol of perseverance” and “a reminder of resilience and hope in the fact that we will be there for them as they recover.”

He also reasserted America’s “unshakable” support for Israel.

    Love the W”H Hanukah decor.
Wonder where they got the color scheme. Definitely not pro-Israel colors.
    🙂

To #1 -Instead of you being appreciative, that a Glatt Kosher Chanukah dinner was held at the White House, you posted an abrasive remark, pertaining to the decor at the White House, which had nothing to do with Chanukah. Years ago, recognition of any Jewish festival at the White House was non-existent, along with any Kosher catering; that being said, I could care less what the surrounding decor looks like!

To be fair, I too had the same knee-jerk reaction to the picture…all these baubles & greenery definitely are the first thing the eye sees. It doesn’t take away from the event which, as much as it kills me to admit anything Hussein does is half-way decent, was a nice gesture. Of course, his usual gestures to Jews & Israel probably involve fingers, but still…………..

I am reading your childish comments and remember in 1942 in the Ghetto Lodz the surrounding small Ghettos were liquidiated and tons of silver was transported from these Ghettos to Lodz to be melted down for silver bars for the Gestapo. You are fools in a wonderland and don’t know how lucky you are . Leonardo da Vinci must turn over in his grave regarding his poor facsimile Mona Lisa on this website

It’s amazing to see all the waffling for the messiah.

Too bad he couldn’t hold the party on Sunday?
As long as the messiah does it, and it comes up $10.00 short, and 100 FREEBIES, this Rusha is A-OK!

For all the President Obama haters, ever since the election – which he won and Romney lost – he has stood right with Israel through Operation Iron Cloud and in the US. For heaven’s sake, stop insulting him and stop having you mind controlled by right wing radio & TV agitators.

Obama has yet to renounce his relationship with Rev. Jeremiah Wright and his bellowing “G-d damn America” week after week for years. Sure the party was nice, and yes, the comment about the inappropriate decor was just that “a comment” but don’t think for a moment that suddenly he is a friend of Israel.

To #9 -Eli- I really enjoyed your comment, and I’m glad that you corrected Mona Lisa, #4 , who is a misinformed, and a misguided individual. Incidentally, I could care less whether Obama’s middle name is “Hussein”. It is really incredible that over a month after a fair national election was held, we are still hearing this recrimination from sore losers, and sour grapes!

Can’t they light with oil????? if the white house has a shortage of oil why don’t they invade a country like Iran that has plenty of oil?

Just wondering if this is a Jewish celebration why are the people not wearing a Kipah?

Why make believe that Obama is a Ohaiv Yisroel when he is not?

    Hashem Yishmor is right!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Yidden in Europe suffered Gehenom on this earth, but why? Because they were not keeping the Mitzvos not even the most basic ones. The much smaller percentage of those so-called Frum where also riddled with the mindset of the Haskolah.

True there were Tzaddikim of a great level and Chassidim also on a great level but the percentage was very small in comparison to those who have been tainted by the Haskolah. But in our generation over sixty years since the end of World War Two we almost don’t feel the anti-Semitism. It’s not in style or wasn’t in style but now things have changed, most governments are criminal governments that like nothing better then persecuting Am HaKodesh and because we have lost most of our Kedusha we are left unprotected against the evil that has taken over the world. How can we be proud to have a party in the same room as people who HATE US???? right here in the US?

For the true Jews among us please come together. Scream out to Hashem. Beg him to forgive us. Cry many many tears. We have no business to celebrate Chanukah or Pesach etc. at the same table as them.THEY HATE US and we are befriending them, WHY
