New York – Get out your coat and hat if you’re planning on heading outside Tuesday night, because the temperature will be dropping to the single digits in some outlying areas.

CBS 2 Meteorologist Elise Finch reported the temperature during the 6 p.m. hour was 35 degrees, but a northwesterly wind was producing wind chills to make it feel like 31 in New York City, 22 in White Plains, and 21 in Montgomery.
An area of high pressure far to the west over the Great Plains states is suppressing moisture and keeping wet weather both to the north and the south away.
But while skies will be clear, temperatures overnight will be bitterly cold in some places. The city will see a winter coat-worthy low of 25 degrees, but some far north suburban areas will drop to near-dangerous lows.
Parsippany will see an overnight low of 14, Cornwall 13, and Monticello just 5 degrees. Wind chills will make those temperatures feel even colder.
On Wednesday, the temperature warms up only to 33, but the trend improves in the week to come.
The high for Thursday is 35, Friday 38, Saturday and Sunday 40, Monday 43, and next Tuesday a balmy 46.

We had, according to my thermometer, +4 Deg F last night. I did not stick my nose out to see for myself 😉 This was in Glens Falls, NY, about 40 miles north of Albany.
When I was up north in the Canadian mountains in the winter it was below 0 degrees and windy, that was COLD! When it warmed up to 20 it felt warm.
