London – In response to “public demand,” a group of Orthodox rabbis in London have opened a “modesty” hotline which enables locals to anonymously report decency violations within the community.

The JC.com (http://bit.ly/12sNEP8) reports that the group, calling itself Va’ad L’Tolhar Hamachneh, Committee for the Purity of the Camp, has posted fliers in synagogues in both Yiddish and English with a number for the hotline and message stating that all calls will be handled confidentially.

A representative from the Union of Orthodox Hebrew Congregations said the formation of the group was not the result of a UOHC initiative, but was instead formed in response to “public demand.”

The representative also said that there would be no “modesty patrols” actively trying to enforce dress codes in public.

Will they accept reports of one of their members being ‘untznius’ with the wives of his mispallillim? Or will they only investigate teenagers who refuse to wear bullet proof stockings?

    Welcome to IRAN!!!!

What’s next, men handing out burkahs to women walking on the streets? Public stonings for women who get molested? How about those shave patrols that were going around the middle east shaving off men’s hair that was just “too long”- but will they be for sheitels too?
Oh, and don’t forget the little boys with bleach! (which can burn someone’s skin or eyes)

WHO is making the “public demand”? Sounds like there are too many perverted people that don’t work, that have nothing else to do with their time.

I guess with all the positive press all the vaad hatznius’s have been getting around the world, i can think of no better time to start a new one- NOT. I guess Lashon Harah is not really in their bible. Sometimes i want to crawl into a shell and for get i am an orthodox jew. This is the antithesis of what frumkeit should be

why? so we can know where to go to see things indecent? make a list?

Is this a joke? If not, then what does it mean to say there will be “no modesty patrols actively trying to enforce dress codes”? What’s the purpose of having a “hotline” to report violations if not enforcement.? and why don’t the people in London have anything better to do than looking around for “tznius” violations so they can go to the Secret Police?

What happens once a person is reported to have violated the community’s standard of tznius? What are their guidelines?

    Great work!

By the way, we have such a tznius hotline in my shteeble as well. The number for reporting inappropriate tznius issues is 911.

It would seem to me that the UOHC is trying to fight back with their own propaganda program, against those who set up a new Abuse Hotline, the ShemaKoliHelpline org.

The UOHC’s poster says: “The Va’ad L’Toihar Hamachneh … Designated to receive calls about the following: – Any place where there has been a deterioration in the standards of modesty or which require supervision. – If there is an occurrence of Porutz Geder or similar issues. – Etc.”

The Shema Koli Helpline is a Confidential Helpline for women and men in the Kehillah who have experienced or been affected by abuse. Abuse of any kind. To yourself or others, children or young people. Now or in the past. 020 3670 1818

Welcome to Saudi Arabia where sharia law prevails….seriously now folks.

It is about education. Things change and little by little get worst and worst. Probably and I said probably once notified a woman would have a heart to heart talk to people who standards are falling. They might just go and learn Rav Falk’s book on modesty. People don’t even realize that they are following goyish fashions. You don’t have to dress in black to be modest and you can be dressed in black and not be modest at all. Schools are full to the brim and when child don’t get in because of the lack of modestly the child suffers because of the parents.

Isn’t there kind of investigation going on Now in London over a Scandal??
I think we should first try to solve the Scandal. One thing at a time.

Very strange it is, that this is the very same rabbis and community that were matir an eishis ish from their community that they purported was an aguna to marry without a kosher Get.

I’m a Brit and I think this is a load of rubbish (AKA a bunch of malarkey/baloney/nonsense.) Bad as it is here, and it really is bad, I’m so glad I don’t live there any more. These people are crazy.

It’s been a while since I have posted anything here, but I can’t “zitz un shveig” on this topic. Yes, welcome to Iran as one poster said and will those who are running this be erlicher yidden as another poster did. I am finding this whole thing so absurdly awful that I am at a loss at finding the right words to express myself. More and more chumras have been put on us all the time. So much so that immediately after Pesach I physically collapsed and ended up in the hospital for a number of days. So much so that my friend’s son was called into his principal’s office because he wore black sneakers that has a thin white stripe on it.Gevalt–nem a shtekin!!! When my daughter was growing up, my home became a beacon for girls who were put under such pressure at home that they had to leave to catch their breath and a few went off the derech. Yidden–WAKE UP!!!!!! This NOT the way to teach our kids to love Yiddishkeit!! Will the yeshivas start telling the boys (as some are here) that certain eyewear is now no longer permissible–will this be on the hotline too? Or is it only the females? I shudder to think.

Now we spy on each other and report to the supreme leader
The supreme leader does what? We are going to loose the
young people and some older people to “Yiddishkat”
The rabbis must put a stop to this at once or who knows what
will be next Will they look in the cooking pots?

How long are we going to allow this nonsense to define us.
How long are we going to allow these losers to defame yiddishkeit.
If we dont all insist that “we`re not going to take this anymore” than we are feeding the monster.
More idiotic chumras coming to city near you.

My take as a psychologist—-those hearing the reports are soliciting the information as a way to receive sexual satisfaction.

    I can imagine the conversations:

“hello modesty patrol. How can I help you?”
“I’d like to report a woman who was seen not dressed modestly.”
“Oy. Tell me exactly what she was wearing and the problem you are citing. What did she look like and what was the nature of the lack of tznius? Don’t skip any of the details.”

What about cheating on programs like medicaid ,section 8 ,food stamps.Should we have a hotline for that?

What is this?! Meah Sharim?! Bet Shemesh?! Did these people forget they have no say in England?! What if I came to town with my short skirts & stayed by my cousins house (which is right by a church & I had a horribly weird feeling there) would he be thrown out?! By whom his goyish landlord?! Or thrown out of Shul where they didn’t even have enough Cohanim to Duchin on Rosh Hashanah?! Would I be arrested by an Englishman who wouldn’t even understand what tzniuz was & probably has a wife who wears pants & they eat treif (because after all, hellooooo, they are goyim)?!

I love that! It’s like a “Lashon Hora Line” set up due to public demand! Who has the right to impose on people what to do and what to wear?!
They should first look at themselves, before pointing their finger on others!
That’s one of the problems of the English Charedi community and one of the reasons I left the country!
People should worry more about their behaviour and set up shiurim on derech eretz, etc…!
It’s one of the problems of the Chareidishe world I, as a chareidi myself, do not subscribe! The Rabbanim become all powerfull and not only radicalise their followers, but also isolate them from the rest of the world!
We are in Golus and have to live in it, without really bein part of it!
That’s the problem and will continue to be one, too!
    Erev Rav is in control!!!!
