Google spokesman Nathan Tyler said on Friday that Google had decided to change the name of the Palestinian Territories to just “Palestine” in its products.

He says Google consults with various sources and authorities when naming countries, and in this case is following the lead of several international organizations.

The move comes after a U.N. decision last year upgrading the Palestinians’ status to “non-member observer state.”

Israel says Palestinian statehood should be reached through negotiations not unilateral moves.

Israeli foreign ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor says Google is not a diplomatic entity which begs the question of why it is getting involved in a controversial international political issue.

And the CIA Factbook describes Gaza as a territory occupied by Israel, even though Israel pulled out of Gaza a long time ago.

Any more victories like this and the palestinians still won’t have a state in 50 more years. And #3, Google isn’t “liberals” they are card carrying capitalists who do business w China and other terrible countries for the $$. They don’t care about humanity like real liberals do.

Google is notoriously leftist, but this is a reflection of the stupidity at the UN.

I dont get it. What did google do wrong? Israel never anexed it, so it is not part of the State of Israel. Palestinians live there. Governed by Palestinians. Recognized by 100+ States. So if its not Israel, its sure not France or Germany. So what is it if not Plestine?

As of Nov. 29, 2012, Palestine is legally identified as a State and not a territory. As of Dec 2012, the UN commenced the use of “State of Palestine” officially in all their documents.

This does not change facts on the ground, but legally, in the eyes of the world community, Palestine is now a State, and a plurality of States have voted to confer this status, not unlike happened on May 14 1948.

If Israel won’t stand up for itself don’t blame anyone else for not standing with her.
Once Israel gets a backbone you will see it getting some respect again.
