New York, NY – In a crowded field of candidates vying for the chance to become the next mayor of NYC, Mayor Bloomberg’s regulation requiring a signed parental release for the Jewish practice of metzitzah b’peh remains a hot-button issue, and while the candidates’ views on regulation vary, they all agree that more outreach and discussion is needed with members of New York’s ultra-Orthodox Jewish community.

The JEWISH DAILY FORWARD (http://bit.ly/ZtlXoE) reports, that ultra-Orthodox Jewish leaders agree that more discussion on the matter is necessary, as well.
So far, of the mayoral candidates only Democratic hopeful John Liu has publicly stated that he is opposed to Bloomberg’s regulation of metzitzah b’peh.
The New York Times has reported that as many as 30,000 Orthodox Jewish votes are up for grabs in the Democratic primary.
Renewed controversy over health risks associated with the practice has arisen, with two cases of post-circumcision herpes infection reported this year.
If one candidate gets all frum Jews to vote for him then it’s a done deal!
So just pack your bags bloomy, and look for a job as a nanny!
Run and hide. MBP is the party of the century.
Maybe I’ll vote for Liu then. He also came to the Boro Park Lag B’Omer parade.
At first when I saw the title, I suddenly thought, MBP, Mordechai Ben-Porat… Why is he an issue among mayoral candidates…
Long story short, this lay-Jew thinks Ribbono Shel Olam cares first and foremost about our health, safety, and well-being, and therefore, from what we know now, “MBP” should be stopped. There are other kosher ways to preform the bris without chancing the, chas v’shalom, health of a baby.
If the candidates are going make a tzimis about MBP, will they make a big deal about burkas, about sheet heads, or about towel heads? The fact that this RELIGIOUS issue is even an issue is a tribute to the self hating sonay yisroel Doonberg ym’sh!
Don’t vote for John Liu. He doesn’t care about the lives of our children.
We need unequivocal promise to reverse, otherwise it’s just political double talk, we had enough of that for the last 12 yrs from Bloomberg and his Askanim that told us to vote for him.
I am afraid this will happen again, someone will promise Askanim money and make some vague mention about “looking into it” and how he ate gefilta fish once and he love Jews, go on Zev Brenners show, but the turn his back on us once elected.
We are powerful, we need and can expect clear promises on both, MBP and vouchers.
