FILE - Rabbi Morris Allen confers with colleague Rabbi Marcia Zimmerman( Filckr Suzanne A. Bring)St Paul, MN – Four years after he predicted a minimum of 10-15 kosher meat producing companies would be carrying its label by the end of 2010, the director of Magen Tzedek, Rabbi Morris Allen, says he has “learned” not to make such “bold” predictions.

The JEWISH DAILY FORWARD (http://bit.ly/10MRk0R) reports that, for a myriad of reasons, Allen and Magen Tzedek have failed to convince a single kosher meat producing company to bear its seal.

Many original supporters of Magen Tzedek are now openly questioning the integrity of the group, including financial backers who have yet to see any return on their initial investments.

For his part, Morris Allen insists that continued opposition from the Orthodox community and strong-arm tactics from the Orthodox Union towards producers considering Morgan Tzedek remain the biggest roadblocks in its ability to “catch on.”

Allen says the “powers” against Magen Tzedek are “unbelievable,” and that the continued “attacks” on them should be of “great concern.”

its simple economics – if the OU, OK, or any other major kosher organization threatens to pull its name off a product – the company will asked itself do i want an OU or some fly by night organization?

It’s all in the messenger. If the OU would want to spearhead such a project, they would have over 1000 company participants. This left wing supervision agency needs to stay out of the Kashruth business.

Is there a food product that has only the hashgocho of Magen Tzedek, Rabbi Morris Allen? If yes what product? If not why would someone who already has a hashgocho from another rabbinical authority and his product sells in the market wont his approval as an addition ?

Here is the deal, Rabbi Morris Allen and Rabbi Marcia Zimmerman,
Orthodox Jews who observe Toras Moshe misinai do not need any guidance from Reform and Conservative rabbis. Rabbis as you and Rabbi MRS. Marcia Zimmerman, don’t really want that Orthodox Jews should become better Jews. All you want is to show the world that we Orthodox Jews are not as good as we say we are. Reform and Conservative Jews are the real Jews is what you tried proving. Go take your Magen Tzedek Hechsher and put in on gay Jews.
Your movement,Rabbi Morris Allen and Rabbi MRS. Marcia Zimmerman, are making a mockery of the Torah when you claim that certain gay lifestyles the Torah did not forbid c’v.So put your Magen Tzedek Hechsher seal on them and leave Orthodox Jews live their lives.

Bye Rabbi Morris Allen and Rabbi MRS. Marcia Zimmerman

Morris Allen cooperated and encouraged the prosecution of Shalom Rubashkin and publicly attacked ShalomRubashkin and Agri Processors alleging mistreatment of its workers. It should be noted that the over 6,000 State charges against Shalom Mordecai Rubashkin alleging abuse of workers and hiring underage workers were either dismissed by the court for lack of evidence and the Jury acquitted Shalom Mordechai of all of the remaining charges.

The Federal Trial had to do with allegations of Bank Fraud, Money Laundering and not paying cattle farmers within 24 hours (pursuant to a over century old law of which Rubashkin was the first and only person ever charged with violating.) but nothing to do with mistreatment of workers, animals, or hiring underage workers or illegal aliens.

Despite the guilty verdict in the Federal Trial an appeal is still pending. Critics jumping on the bandwagon should be advised that 6 retired attorneys general and hundreds of the top lawyers and jurists in the country joined in briefs criticizing the prosecution of Shalom Mordecai Rubashkin. Thus, despite the finding of guilt there is an abundance of educated opposition to the method and prosecution.

When a Conservative seal parades around as an addition to the orthodox hechsherim, something is really upside down. Let them first get there own house in order before trying to get everyone else’s in place. No wonder it hasn’t been well received!!

When Conservative rabbis think they can add to the hechsher of the orthodox, it’s no wonder it falls flat on its face!!

the term conservative and reform rabbi is an oxymoron….
i am surprised that this rabbi allen belived that his congregants really care about. kashrus. At best the keep kosher, as they understand it, at home. Outside kosher style is more than good enough. Only far left wing egalitarians and reconstructionists and their rainbow constituents would support a magen tzedek hechsher. save the seals. ethical lobster fishing and humanely killed range fed pork. all in the name of human advancement .
Truth is i feel sorry for them

yeah, well when a rabbi, Rabbi Zimmerman, is pictured with out a kippah, I suspect that they can not be trusted. That is why they failed.

He should have started out giving his “hechsher” on non-food products, such as clothing produced under fair trade conditions. But he is not really interested in “Tzedek” he is just an entitled, spoiled baby who wants some of that “lucrative” kosher endorsement money that the “Orthodox have a monopoly of.”

My husband, sons and son-inlaws have all worked as mashgichim and believe me, there is no “big money” in there, mashgichim get paid what you would expect food industry workers get paid, which is bupkies.

If Morris Allen has a “right” to be a kashrus inspector with his own label, then as a consumer I also have a “right” to NOT purchase any product bearing his label, since it does not meet my requirements of what I want in a kosher product.
