The New York Post (http://bit.ly/111vGWO ) reported Sunday that the city’s 311 hotline got more than 8,000 photos accompanying reports in the last 15 months. They included more than 1,800 pictures of items left in taxis, almost 200 images concerning conditions at eateries and at least 25 pictures of pigeon droppings.

The complaint and information line got just 100 images the first year after the photo feature began in 2008.

The 311 director, Joe Morrisroe, says pictures allow customers to offer evidence that something is out of line.

Restaurant manager Cindy Yue says it’s not good for businesses if customers report problems only to the government, not to establishments themselves.

Wouldn’t this be a question of mesira if a Jewish person sent in pictures of a Jewish establishment?

OMG, mesira the magic word that brings automatic paralysis of the central nervous system and stops all seichel. It’s funny how no other word has come into play that causes such heart stopping and soul searching. Not teshuvah, not aveirah, not mitzvah, not dina d’malcuseh dina, not any other word causes the same flush of anxiety. Sad then, that this word, so overused, is a word that has zero comprehension amongst its users and followers. You could look up mesira, its meaning and intent or you can visit your local Pagan priest, who practices not what he preaches and doesn’t want you to drop a dime on his illegal activities, such as extending his house past his plot, not collecting tax on cash purchases, taking cash payments to under report income, being on food stamps and assistance while driving a Mercedes Benz (that one being a grandchild of Holocaust survivors – open wide bubbe).

Please, please, please those of you who think that mesira is about not upholding laws but about skirting them, tie a red ribbon in front of your house – that way I can know who not to be meshaddach with at all. That’d be a mitzvah.
