Israel – Health Min.: Do Not Use Unpasteurized Milk To Treat Mouth Sores

Israel – Drinking unpasteurized milk directly from farm animals to treat sores in the mouth — from hand-foot-and-mouth disease, for example — is dangerous, the Health Ministry warned on Wednesday.

In the summer, there is an increase of entero-virus infections, which are one of the factors causing sores in the mouth. Thus while unpasteurized milk has been found to help some children and youths, its is dangerous, said the ministry, which became aware of the folk remedy.

Drinking or gargling unpasteurized milk of cows, sheep, goats or camels — and even applying it to the skin — is potentially harmful. It’s impossible to know from the color, smell or taste of the milk if there are risky bacteria and other microbes.

Unpasteurized milk may contain Brucella, Salmonella, e-coli and Listeria microbes and lead to infections with fever, stomachache, vomiting and diarrhea. In extreme cases, these can lead to serious complications and even death. The microbes are most dangerous for babies, young children, pregnant women, elderly and others suffering from weak immune systems.

C’mon guys, this is old fearmongering.

Raw milk is consumed regularly by many worldwide for the health benefits. The chances of disease from milk from *HEALTHY ANIMALS* is very slight. If you are immunocompromised R”L stay away from this… as well as from schools, grocery stores, and mayonnaise.

Believe it or not, pasteurization is a very recent invention… that they came up with when terrible hygiene from milk delivery protocols was making people sick.

Bottom line: Use common sense. Preferably only consume raw milk from animals raised for that purpose, as they will be treated well and kept healthy. (The animals used for mass-produced milk are MORE likely to be unhealthy, since they figure what’s the diff – it will all be killed off in the pasteurization.)

It is not fearmongering! It is really scary and deadly. You have an open wound and then putting possibly contaminated milk on it…
“Healthy” cows may still have contaminated milk. The farmers may be mistaken, they may lie, or the milk gets contaminated after leaving the cow!
Would you risk your kids very life on this folk remedy?

There is a new (as far as I know) hidden economy of selling pseudo remedies in Israel. I ran across it with sage omega oil. It turns out there are many MLM pyramid schemes. I assume the access to this remedy is part of somebody making money.

I think that raw milk access should be done very carefully under health department supervision. Maybe there are ways to keep the animal extra clean. I see the possible advantages and major risks.
I think avoiding mayonnaise is not necessary, the bottled stuff is pretty safe, it is in use that people make mistakes.

I say let Darwinism take course. Do not give these public warnings. Some human stupidity is important to the survival of civilizations.

15 years ago, my husband was disabled and suffering from the effects of Multiple Sclerosis. A mekubal told him to start drinking raw goat’s milk because it would help. This is very common all over Israel.

My husband has been drinking raw milk every day since then and B”H you would never know that he had been sick.

Weston A. Price Foundation has a lot of scientific studies to back up the safety of raw milk.

Raw milk is not a folk remedy. It’s meant for human consumption, unlike the altered state commercial milk is in. Pasteurization and homogenization change the chemical makeup of milk removing naturally occuring enzymes, probiotics, milk solids, proteins and fats. It’s like commercial flour which has had all its natural components removed and then pumped full of vitamins which are not its original ones.

If it really works it might put the doctors and pharmaceutical companies out of buisness. That’s why they discourage all alternative medicine. You don’t know who to trust these days.

I raise goats and received instructions from the agricultural dept. Goat milk for hoof and mouth disease sores should be heated until it starts to froth and rise, it is not pasteurized yet safe for useage and will heal the sores. Though a herd is healthy and vaccinated, the males are not since it makes them sterile. This is why sickness can develop and only be discovered when taking blood tests periodically. You can become sick by drinking unpasteurized milk, that’s why raw milk isn’t sold usually, it’s a fact. We have people tell us they did the squirt into the mouth from other farms and they sat with antibiotic infusions in the hospital. BTW, what’s the magic of squirting into the mouth anyways, why not use a cup??! Once again be safe and don’t squirt imo.
