Jerusalem – Haredi Youth Makes History As First To Enlist In IAF Flying School

    16

FILE - An Israeli soldier leads an F-16 jet before a flight to Lebanon at Ramat-David Airforce Base, about 20 km from Haifa, on Wednesday 21 July 2006.. EPAJerusalem – Calling himself a “trailblazer” who’s goal is proving that one can be an observant Jew while serving in the IDF’s “elite” forces, an 18 year-old ultra-Orthodox boy is set to make history by becoming the first haredi enlistee in the IAF’s elite flying school.

YNETnews.com (http://bit.ly/11go176) reports that the boy is one of the first graduates of the Torah Leadership Academy, a prep-school designed to assist in the integration of haredi youths into the military.

The boy’s father, who oversees a Chabad center, said despite the fact that he had always hoped his son would follow in his footsteps and devote his life to the study of the Torah, he and his family support the boy’s decision.

The three year-long IAF flying program is viewed as “extraordinarily” difficult, one which only a small fraction of applicants complete.

This is a great story but again the vast majority of Charadim and their Rabbanim aren’t against the IDF or serving in it what they are against is this extreme handling of a dubious supreme court ruling. If this boy feel’s he can’t handle Yeshiva any longer then going to the Army is just as good if not even better then working in a store or attending college… But lets not kid ourselves and think that this is the example that can be handled by majority of Charadim…

Kian Yirboo! May he show both the Haradi and non-Haradi that it is possible to be able to be a Torah Observant Jew and a member of the IAF. May Hashem grant him the ability to finish the program with “flying” colors.

Baruch Hashem!!!!!! A man of strength and will and of course The Dignity of Torah. I hope he flies high in life and in the future in an IAF plane if it is Hashem’s Will.

We all wish him well, regardless, but why are people posting “kein yirbu”?
The IDF is treif and clearly a threat to his ruchniyus. Why are you wishing other people to have to endure those nisyonos? Not to mention the other risks involved.

Kol Hakavod – I have the greatest respect for any young person who will put his life on the line for Klal Yisrael – to his family, you have raised an amazing young man. May you see much nachat from him – and – may he be a wonderful teacher to the other amazing young people with whom he will work.

To the esteemed readers of this site, my advice to you is that if you have something to say that will unite us, great. If not, silence is also good.

From that comments above (most of them) we would think that Hashem created the world so that we can enlist in the IDF flying School.

Before you comment, think about it, is this what Hashem created the world for and chose us or was it so that we learn Torah. Hint; Read Rashi in Parshas Bereishis.

It all sounds nice and rosey. Lets see in three years from now where his yiddishkite is holding before we start dancing for joy.

Am yisroel always consisted of a variety of jews.
In the best of times we had those that fought and those that didnt. We never had a system when some worked and so many made it virtuous to not .
Since kryas yum suf we are the recepients of miracles on a daily basis but we are no longer zocheh to have miracles done for us while we just “stand back and watch”.
We have to do our part. and then ask G-D for help.
To our resident cave dwellers…go back to your cave. You arent bad people …. you just cant live among society.. Sounds familiar.
To everyone else ish al machaneihu v`ish al diglo.
We all , in our own way, do everything we can to live a torah true life. Would we be united we would be unbeatable. Divided we are wet kleenex
Sometimes the most difficult mitzva of all is to love our fellow jews.
Lets work on that one. Just as important and maybe more so than “another blatt”
