B’klyn bank heist suspect ID’d

Cops have identified a suspect in a string of Brooklyn bank robberies.
David Evangelista, 30, is being sought in five holdups that occurred in Sheepshead Bay and Bensonhurst from Aug. 10 to Oct. 3, police said.

In the first heist, Evangelista allegedly pointed a chromed handgun at a teller at the Washington Mutual Bank at 2560 Ocean Ave. He also is suspected of robbing an Independence Savings Bank on Avenue P on Aug. 30, a Chase Bank on E. 17th St. and a North Fork Savings Bank on 86th St. on Sept. 15, and an Independence Savings Bank on Avenue J on Oct. 3. He did not use a weapon in the last four robberies, police said.

Evangelista is described as white, 5-feet-8 and 170 pounds. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
