Southeast, NY – A sprinkler malfunction dumped nearly 200 gallons of water inside a Reform Jewish synagogue this morning, barely a year after its congregation moved into the new building.
The automatic sprinklers went off at Temple Beth Elohim at 31 Mount Ebo Road North. No fire was reported at the synagogue.

"About 190 gallons of water flooded the building, came down the front steps and formed ice in the parking lot before the Brewster Fire Department was able to turn off the automatic system," said state Trooper Christopher Esposito.

The congregation moved there in late 2006, the culmination of a 10-year fundraising and construction project. [journalnews]
