NBC 10 PHILADELPHIA (http://bit.ly/18bZFRA) reports that 24 year-old Harout Vartanian, owner of Manayunk Cleaners, said his goal in using the drone was to “spice up” the traditional delivery process in hopes of attracting a younger clientele base for his business that opened last September.

Vartanian said a YouTube video of the delivery drone he posted went viral, and he has since been inundated with inquiries.

The device is actuality a four-bladed DJI Phantom quadracopter, which is typically used to capture ariel photos, but as a delivery drone—which Vartanian admits is in its “early stages”—it is able, with the help of two spotters, to carry up to two pounds (one or two shirts) while airborne directly to the door of a client.

When the drone arrives at its location, it makes a noise notifying the client, who then comes out and unclips their items from the hovering device.

Vartanian said there is a higher-end model capable of carrying between 5-10 pounds of dry cleaning that he plans on purchasing in the future.

Who knew a shirt was that heavy? I guess the hanger, paper, and plastic add a lot to the weight.

This is a very nice story. True American spirit. Reminds me of years ago there was a restaurant (probably not kosher) that delivered your meal on toy electric trains

There is a competitor delivering shirts via intercontinental ballistic missile. The shirts get there fast, but not much is left of your house.
