Queens, NY – Councilman Vallone Seeks To Remove Koch’s Name From Queensboro Bridge

Queens, NY – In his latest quest to have deceased former mayor Ed Koch’s name removed and its original name reinstated, City Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. is drafting legislation proposing that Manhattan’s Municipal Building be re-named after Koch, thus allowing the people of Queens their “Queensboro Bridge” back.

The NEW YORK POST (http://bit.ly/11O4oWZ) reports that this will be Vallone’s third attempt at keeping Koch’s name off the bridge.

Vallone’s petition campaign to stop Mayor Bloomberg’s proposed name changed fell short in 2010, as did his legislation attempt a year later that would have prohibited the city from naming landmarks after “living people.”

This time Vallone insists that he is in it for the long haul.

“I’m not going to rest until it’s rectified, until we get our bridge back,” Vallone said.

What about the Triboro bridge? Kennedy was a carpetbagger that only wanted a stepping stone to the presidency. He and his family were anti-semites most of the time and were pro-Jewish only when they wanted to get votes.

Any ‘normal’ person wouldn’t care to petition 3 times for such a thing of little importance. He obviously has an ax to grind.

Keep up the good work. I agree Koch was a disgrace to NYC and humanity and his name doesn’t belong on any bridge. His name should stay and remain on a tomb stone in christian cemetery.

I wish they would use the “real” names. 80 years the Triboro Bridge, then the “RFK” bridge… close to 100 years the 59th Street Bridge (or Queensboro) and then the Eward I Koch Bridge. The names never should have been changed in the first place…but since they are Dems in this Dem town, nothing will happen.
